would that it were…

but alas, big surprise, this show seemed “bent” to the “women’s rights” side of the debate…painted the RTL side as religious fanatics wanting to endanger society with their “right wing religious” beliefs…when will we see what we are doing to ourselves!!! What is it going to take? Nov 30th will be an interesting day in the life (hopefully death) of the “Abortion Rights” movement…

But it sure was nice to hear the Chaplet of Divine Mercy sung on “public” broadcasting!

The poison must run its course. Unfortunately, the people who practise this will die out eventually.

I think that is what it will take.

I saw a preview to this last night… How can any free-thinking American NOT say that PBS has a leftward tilt?

The way they’d play “scary music” and talk about how “in some parts of the country you just can’t even get an abortion” made me just shake my head. It’s just frustrating to see where our tax dollars go.

Well I watched it, and I don’t agree it was entirely done with a slant toward pro-choice, but it wasn’t done with a slant toward pro-life either.

The camera showed protesters praying and some speech media clips by the protesters. I appreciate completely the fact they didn’t speak over the audio for those scenes. It enables the viewer to observe and listen so they can draw their own conclusions.

Same with the abortion doctor…the documentary allowed her to do the talking…no position was taken by the narrator on what was right or wrong or preferred.

The narrator provided background history to upcoming scenes so that the viewer could appreciate the context, that was it. And I appreciated that.

What was driving me nuts was the way the pro-choice lawyers kept doggin’ about women not having choices available to them…I so wanted to scream out EVERYONE HAS A CHOICE NOT TO ENGAGE IN SEXUAL RELATIONS IF THEY CAN’T HANDLE IT RESULTING IN A PREGNANCY!!!

And when they kept using terms like ‘right to abortion’, ‘couldn’t choose to terminate’ I wanted them to use the real words “KILL THEIR BABY”.

So in the end, the fact that the narrator didn’t make any correction to those statements and didn’t make any comments about the prayers and taunts of the lady/gentleman outside the clinic helped me to appreciate the approach the producer/director took here. It was balanced. (Loved it when she sang the Jesus loves the little children song, but cringed when she took on the voice of an infant saying “I wanna live, mommy, it’s gonna hurt, mama, it’s gonna hurt” - that seemed hurtful, rude and counterproductive, imo).

I didn’t see it but can appreciate your comments.

AMEN to that!

I watched the first 30 minutes or so, before heading for bed.

I agree with YinYangMom…the presentation was much more balanced and neutral than I expected from PBS, and especially from Frontline. The pro-life folks were permitted to present their case, and were not ridiculed at all (which is what I expected). The pro-abortion people were extended the same courtesy.

I didn’t feel that “my side” was attacked by the presentation, but that we got a fair exposure. I only pray that undecideds (and maybe even some pro-abortion people) who watched it may have learned something.

If you go to life.org.nz/abortionaboutabortion.htm the 3rd box down the RHS column goes to a Frontline Documentary that can be watched online. We have split it into several chapters and Chapter 5 gives the pro-life side.

I was surprised how balanced the documentary is, which is why I decided to include links to it on our website.

I loved the last line of the show. When are people going to wake up the people who want to limit abortion rights will go to all lenghts and we are losing.

At that I jumped up and said Hoorah.

Nov 30?

Our PBS chose not to air this Frontline Program. I plan on watching it online.

That was my take as well. Although, I think they intended the audience to take “The Last Abortion Clinic” to be something ominous, certainly not something to be celebrated.

I agree totally. My impression though of the pro-choice crowd is that most of them believe that sex is something that can’t be controlled, it’s an urge that in their view is unnatural to supress. Most of them don’t really have any grasp of what human dignity means, and that the fulfillment of the sexual urge is completely healthy and wholesome. A lot of them really view our idea of sex as unnatural, strange and harmful.

You may be right. I am betting that these same people decry celibacy as un-natural and perverse. There is definitely an ideology of sex in the United States. We are bombarded by images and attitudes in advertising, in movies, televsion, music etc. all with the idea that the sex drive is all powerful and should be satisfied.

It may have been those things you describe, but I lost it at that moment. I’m a big, tough guy and I just don’t cry about much, but this is one of the parts that left me sobbing. I’m really haunted by that. If the un-born could scream…
