Any fans out there of the Myst series?

I’m still on Exile. I haven’t played it in years.

I just saw an advertisement for Myst V: End of Ages at CompUSA. I didn’t know it was coming out!

I love the original, but I haven’t played any of the others. Next paycheck I’m buying the 3 game boxset so my fiance can play a computer game with me.

Thanks for mentioning this! The Myst series is the most beautiful game series! Now I know what I’m getting my son for Christmas. He loves the series, too. He probably knows about the new game, but I didn’t.

I’m a big fan but have found it hard to dedicate the time necessary to bungle through. I’ll admit on a few of the games, I have resorted to an online walk-through. My wife and I managed the second game in a weekend marathon with out help, but it doesn’t seem like we have the time for that these days…

Anyone enjoy the Myst series?

I’m working on Revelation right now. I’m having a hard time getting into it. The ‘controls’ have changed a bit since Exile and I don’t care for them.

And I already don’t like the little girl. I mean come on! When I screwed up her beetle experiment - what was I suppose to do? I’m walking around looking for who knows what. And for her to get snotty with me after I’ve saved BOTH her parents AND the whole of her dad’s ancestors on Releashan? 😃

I don’t have it for the PC but I do have it on the Jaguar CD… Haha I doubt anyone remembers or knows what that was.

Anyways I’ve only ever played the first one. It is definitely for those with patience. It does a great job of setting the mood it intends with it’s music and sound effects. I was really getting into it until I got stuck on a certain part of the game, stopped playing it and then when I decided to come back to it I had no idea what was going on. I didn’t feel like starting over but maybe in the future I will.

With countless games out there with guns, explosions and killing it’s a great change of pace.

God bless

I started to play myst along time ago. I still have the disc but it wont load in this new laptop I have. I have thought about going out and buying a new one but was wondering if it is compatible with my new laptop. I like role playing games and I think this is a good one. Nice bump.🙂

hey joly - Even getting Exile to install was a chore. There was 1 part where it constantly hung up. I think it has to do with quicktime though. The CD installs v6 and I think it’s up to 10 now.

I remember instally Myst the first time. Same thing there. I think by the time I played it it was on say version 5 while the CD had version 2. Something like that. It worked for the most part but sometimes that animation when right away to being finished.

I’m going to look for the original Myst to see if I can find it and get it installed for my son to play. Wish me luck.

Oh - and last night I had almost given up on Revelation and realized I was looking at a possible puzzle to be solved. It took me awhile, but sure enough, it was a puzzle and once I figured it out, I was able to move on in the game. 🙂

Yep. Atari’s last home console. I’ve kept everything I have ever bought video game wise. Have some stuff with some real value. That Jaguar CD attachment I bought on clearance in the mid 90’s for $20-$30 I’ve seen go as high as $400 on ebay

God bless
