CRATUS

Guest
How can I battle my negative thoughts? My thoughts are so deep - it is difficult to shake them off easily. I try to pray but then I see what good will happen. Tragedies still occur. People die. I really want to be positive but I am scared mostly of life. Of living. I can be a little drama queen. My anxiety has been quite high these days. I want it to stop. I still pray - but it scares me that you cannot prevent tragedies. Things happen. I wish prayer could solve every issue.

Yeah I hear you CRATUS. But I think what can help to settle this is to realize that we’re here only temporarily. Some of us more temporarily than others. But that in the end we’ll all be together again. We’ll all be there to swap stories in that great big eternity.

So don’t worry so much about the here and there of things. Don’t worry so much if your prayers don’t seem to stop this avalanche of problems we’re always surrounded by. Just try your best. And do your best. And be there for those you love. And those who love you.

Peace CRATUS. When anxiety strikes hit it back with a Glory Be. Then rest easy knowing that it’s in God’s hands.

Your pal,

Trident

Keep physically active, an active regular prayer life, counter each negative thought with something positive, donate a nickel to a cause you don’t like every time you have a negative thought, count your blessing daily.

Praying to the Holy Spirit to give you guidance, direction, strength, fortitude & wisdom in your time of need.

Realize that there is only so much you can do. We cannot know the exact thoughts or will of the Most High God.

Commend your prayers to the workings of the Holy Spirit and be at peace. Create peace and love in your own environment. These good things have a way of rippling out into society. Think what good would happen if we all did this.

Don’t stop praying. Your inner peace is just as valuable.

From personal experience, the psalms can really help with this. Though numbers very from bible to bible, the ones listed as Psalm 40 and Psalm 91 in the New American Bible are the ones which stick out to me.

I have to agree with this. I have found that reading the Bible, especially Psalms, gives me peace. You might try praying the Divine Office too.

“Dying is easy, it’s living that scares me to death!”

It fits my attitude perfectly.
