I came across a podcast today that I just thought was the coolest thing ever!! (Um, granted, Iā€™m pretty easily amused but-) šŸ˜Š

YOU GUYS- ā¤ļø

Thereā€™s a podcast made by the monks of St. Meinradā€™s Archabbey- And they make their own Peanut Butter, which they call-

PEANUT ā€˜BROTHERā€™ šŸ˜Š

IF that isnā€™t the CUTEST THING!!! ā˜€ļø

Iā€™m sorry (It prolly sounds a little disrespectful to say that- but I mean- I love the idea- and itā€™s awesome!! I mean it in a good way, and Iā€™m kinda tickled to death by the thought!)

Iā€™m buying a TON of Peanut Butter now. Theyā€™re all probably gonna be gathered around, looking at the increase in orders going to one person and be all, ā€œWho is this crazy gal?ā€

On another note, I guess it goes to show that I still have a lot to learn- that monks arenā€™t just praying 24 hours a day, but that they (Like priests) are human, and do other human things, too!

As a matter of fact, sounds like they are so busy, that they barely get a chance to rest, a lot of the time. So I think, (As with everyone) We should definitely offer these fellas our prayers, that they can continue to do all their good work, (As well as make Peanut Butter!)

Thanks for the tip.

I love peanut butter.

Itā€™s also good for you.

Thank you for posting this. I will place my order this afternoon. My kids and I love peanut butter. Also thank Sarcella for the heads up on the cookies, will be baking. God bless

Well, at least until you eat a whole jarā€¦

in one sittingā€¦

with a spoonā€¦

I REGRET NOTHING!!!

(OK, that didnā€™t really happen, but I was near-addicted to peanut butter growing up.)

I think itā€™s great to share this kind of information. It immediately reminded me of The Monks of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary of Mount Carmel. It is a growing monastic community, and in seeking a way to support themselves they came up with ā€¦ coffee

Iā€™ll have to look for the peanut butter.

They-

THEY MAKE COFFEE?

:coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee:ā¤ļøā¤ļø

Coffee, I believe, is one of lifeā€™s greatest blessings that weā€™ve been given. šŸ˜Š

I AM SO HAPPY~ cheers

I am definitely gonna check out the coffee, too!!

Anything made by monks is usually excellent. Beer, cheese, fruitcake, fudge, bread, coffee. Iā€™m sure the peanut butter is great too.

WHAAAT?

I just read the article- As much as I love me some coffee I had no idea all the history behind it! šŸ˜® This is FASCINATING.

And the fact that itā€™s kinda credited for ushering in the enlightenment/ exchange of ideas- so cool!šŸ˜Š

Saying a prayer of gratitude that Pope Clement VIII blessed the coffee bean ā¤ļøšŸ˜Š And that we have such an awesome beverage in the world. (Though peeps often tell me I need to drink less of it, ā€˜cause ā€œMy heartā€™s gonna explode" lol- hopefully not really, heheh!) šŸ˜Šā˜€ļø:coffee:

Thank you for sharing this article with me!!

Iā€™m pretty sure ya all are gonna give me a happiness heart-attack. šŸ˜Š ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø

SO MANY GOOD THINGS.

And I bet itā€™s healthier/ has less chemicals in the ingredients, too!

I think Iā€™m just gonna make a trip and hand over my wallet to all these monks ā€œPLEASE TAKE THE MONEY KIND BROTHERS AND GIVE ME FOOD.ā€ šŸ˜ŠšŸ˜ā¤ļø

ā€¦On another note- Iā€™ve been trying to follow the lent tradition of giving up unhealthy things and- um- I think itā€™s starting to show, heheh. Maybe I need a snack.

I was at a craft fair that is held yearly on the grounds at Holy Hill Shrine in Hubertus, Wisconsin, outside of Milwaukee.

It is held every year in September.

My husband and I decided to finally go this past September, and we are so glad that we went. We had a great time! šŸ™‚

I bought a bar of Lavender Patchouli soap from some Carmelite Friars who came from Minnesota.

All of the soaps that they made, smelled so amazing.

I kept the brochure that they had available on their table, and here is the website for them, in case anyone would be interested in their products:

http://carmelitesaustinmn.com/work/

You would have to contact them by e-mail if youā€™re interested in purchasing any of their jams, coffee, soaps, or rugs. The contact information is on their website.

They also appear at craft fairs in the Rochester/Minneapolis area too, if anyone lives in Minnesota and would like to see their products.

I also came upon this website while searching, that showcases products from many of the monasteries and abbeys that have already been mentioned in this thread:

They sell beer!!!
Hi Lily! ā¤ļø šŸ™‚

Yes, they do!

There are some really lovely items on the site.

I am interested in so many different thingsā€¦

Iā€™m interested in the various food items, and the different dry soup mixes, too.

I love soup mixes like that. I like to add in different types of sausages or meat, and some extra beans/legumes and veggies, to make a nice, big, hearty pot of soup. šŸ˜Š

I love their Rosaries. They have the one I need to replace. So I will be getting that for sure.

And I am curious about that beer. (First time Iā€™ve seen that offered by anyone.) I see they have 2 kinds. Wonder what the difference is?

Iā€™ll get the fudge and a few other things for Mama as well.

Mmm, peanut butter cookies paired with coffeešŸ˜‹

This is a nice thread @CheerfulTabby22.

Combines a way to buy good stuff and support the monasteries.
