So, I don’t know if I will be able to find a ride because it is six hours drive from here, but my mom’s memorial service is at a “Four Square” church. I am a recent convert to the Catholic church. At one point I was Pentecostal, the “Open Bible” denomination. I recall that the Four Square church near me was also Pentecostal. I’m not sure how I feel about going to a service at a church like that, but I will go if I can find a ride because it is my mother. None of my immediate family are Catholic, so it’s understandable.
Any advice? I wear a few sacramentals, and I will definitely wear them to the service. I just hope that they have enough respect to not try to convert me. The Pentecostal church I used to attend saw every opportunity as one to preach, and they particularly hated the Catholic church. Prayers, wisdom, knowledge, and advice are greatly appreciated. I won’t be violating some canon law by attending will I? I would hate to have that conflict because, well, it’s for my mother. I did already ask my parish to say a mass for her, but I would still like to have the memorial service with my family. Thank you for your wisdom, knowledge and prayers.
