Well, the Latin was never, “The Lord be with your spirit.” The Latin has always stated, “The Lord be with you.”So I’m getting a little confused here…we will be changing the words “And also with you” in the near future back to “And with your spirit” (if I understand this correctly.) So why will the priest say "The Lord be with YOU, and not “The Lord be with YOUR SPIRIT” ? The response is not consistent with the statement. What am I not understanding here?
The whole point of the new translation will be to have the English be a better *literal *translation of the Latin.
