Excellent point. Perhaps we should consider that it is us Anglos who are being irreverent by not calling Christ by his title and instead being all chummy with “Jesus.”
A lot of TV evangelists talk as if JesusChrist were their chum rather than the King and Lord he is.🤷

Hi everybody
This issue frankly surprise me to be an issue.
What about TRINITY.:confused::confused:

Is that one ok.
I know, when referring to god we always say MOST HOLY TRINITY. In both English and Spanish.:whistle:

It’s true that people most often say: Our Lord Jesus (Nuestro Senor Jesuscristo), Jesuscristo, - but they do say Jesus. My mother’s cousin’s name is Jesus and it is to honor Jesus and to make the faith present in every day life. It is also to shamelessly announce to the world without fear that you are christian. Perhaps, there was an era that it was courageous to carry that name. I wouldn’t be surprise. It’s bold.
Yes, that is correct. We say “Jesucristo”, “Nuestro Señor Jesucristo”, “Jesús Dios mio” etc. My Grandmother named three of her ten children Jesús, José and María. We all know when we are talking about my uncle or one of my many cousins named Jesús. My uncle’s son is Jesusito. The others, if the last name is the same as my uncle’s, then he is “Jesús the son of X. If the last name is not the same, then it is Jesús X. There are too many to just say “Jesús”.

The only time we say “¡Jesús!” (exclamation) in the family is when the person sneezes. It is a blessing short for “¡Jesús te proteja!” or “¡Jesús te bendiga!” (Jesus protect you; Jesus bless you). To others we say the whole thing.

We celebrate Feast Days, and they are as follows:

March 19: Saint Joseph
July 4: Dulce Nombre de Jesús (Sweet Name of Jesus – unknown in the USA)
Sept. 12: Dulce Nombre de María (Sweet Name of Maria)
Oct. 2: Guardian Angels

My Dad’s name is Ángel. He went by Angelo with the Anglos to make it easier for them. When my class mates would come to visit, they could not believe it when I would introduce my family! Jesús, José, María, and Angelo! We also name our boys “Pastor”, Shepherd. I had a Hispanic friend, who knew my family, with whom I would joke telling him that I was going to marry him and name our son “Pastor” so we would have Jesús, María, José, Ángel, and Shepher in the family!! :rotfl: If we also had a girl, she would be “Estrella”! His name was “King”! :rotfl: :rotfl:

I was very surprised when no one in my class was named Jesus or Angel! My parents just said they must all be in other classes. Then . . . we were shocked! Not a single one! At a Catholic school! We could not believe it!

Please spread the word. We are not being disrespectful to Our Lord when we name our boys Jesús or Ángel. That does not enter our minds. I joke around a little above because of the “cultural” differences. Growing up, I never gave it a thought of my aunts’, uncles’, or cousins’ names. I just wanted to know when was their Feast Day and about their Saint or Blessed Mother’s Avocation (is that the correct word?).

I hope this helps.

Does this website have the characters for Spanish, or must I type in another program and copy to here?
