I found this earlier today:
groundwire.net/connect/get-involved/488.html

It’s an evangelism outlet for people online. It gets people connected right away to someone who can answer their questions and provide spiritual support when they might not be able to get any otherwise. I think this is a great thing and it would be wonderful to have a Catholic version of this.

First the Mormons started doing it and it worked out well for them, despite the trolls (they still wont tell us how magnets work). And now this evangelical ministry is getting their hands messy with this work and I can foresee this working out well for them. I personally believe that the church is a bit too passive with its evangelism, especially in the states. And having something like this would offer support and answers to people in need. It would be easy for us to talk to someone and then direct them towards a parish and an RCIA program and invite them to live a fully sacramental life. I think this would both increase our numbers and the passion of the new converts who would be an example to some of the nominal cradle Catholics that are out there. Like I said, I just think this would be a great thing to have and perhaps there is a Catholic version and I would love to see that.

Thoughts?

You are very thoughtful for posting this question. I went to the link but the server wouldn’t respond.

Many times I have felt somewhat as you do. However there is CAF to ask questions and to find help for problems. I’m not saying this is enough, but that you can find a lot of support here. As far as evangelization is concerned I always try to take opportunities, when they appear, to speak to people about the condition of their soul. We can only plant seeds for the Holy Spirit to use to bring them to life. And I can offer to pray for them. I find a lot of inactive Catholics this way and I encourage them to attend mass. And I have found some very active practicing Catholics. To unbelievers I can answer any questions they may have. The least I can say is, “God loves you and wants you to come home.” If I have a chance I will testify what God has done for me. If they are happy in their present church I don’t discourage them, I don’t try to convert them. I always try to be kind and not obnoxious.

Becoming Catholic is a process. It is not as simple as it is in most protestant churches. To be Catholic is to be incorporated into the body of Christ. It takes time. It took me five years.

God bless and keep you.
