I add my voice to the chorus of those who have seen neither.

Why don’t you look up some movie reviews?

I’ve seen both.

Personal Best is, if I remember right (it was a long time ago), junk. Badly made, trashy, could have been a Lifetime Movie of the Week.

Brokeback Mountain was, whatever one thinks of its subject matter or its attitude towards homosexual relationships, a beautifully made movie, based on a short story by a really good writer (Annie Proulx) and directed by the brilliant Ang Lee, a three-time Oscar winner (for best director).

Lee has directed some truly great movies (Eat Drink Man Woman and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon are my favorites). If you don’t want to see Brokeback Mountain, these two movies contain nothing offensive and are really, really good.
