I was flipping through the radio stations & came across Catholic Answers. I don’t know who the guest was, but he said something great.

In response to a question about Revelations he informed the caller that the Church did not have a specific position on the verse. He went on to say he was going to give his own interpretation but said we must take it with a grain of salt. He recognized his PERSONAL INTERPRETATION as simply that since it was not a claim of the Church.

Wow! When was the last time you heard this unassuming version of personal interpretation of scripture? No pretenses there.

Isn’t that the way we should all view our own interpretations of scripture instead of claiming that the Holy Spirit has selected us to reveal the meaning of scripture to the whole world & for all times.

It seems that other religions cannot be unassuming about their personal interpretations. If they were, where would that leave their idea of sola scriptura? They would have to look to a higher authority for interpretation and they refuse to do that.
