Audrey Hepburn (1929 – 1993) was a British actress and humanitarian. Recognized as a film and fashion icon, she was iducted into the International Best Dressed List Hall of Fame. Born in Ixelles, Brussels, Hepburn spent parts of her childhood in Belgium, England, and the Netherlands. She studied ballet with Sonia Gaskell in Amsterdam beginning in 1945 and with Marie Rambert in London starting in 1948. She began performing as a chorus girl in West End musical theater productions and then had minor appearances in several films. Hepburn starred in the 1951 Broadway play Gigi after being spotted by French novelist Colette, on whose work the play was based. She rose to stardom in the romantic comedy Roman Holiday (1953), alongside Gregory Peck, for which she was the first actress to win an Oscar, a Golden Globe Award, and a BAFTA Award for a single performance.

“I love people who make me laugh. I honestly think it’s the thing I like most, to laugh. It cures a multitude of ills. It’s probably the most important thing in a person.”

“The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It’s the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows & the beauty of a woman only grows with passing years.”

“If I’m honest I have to tell you I still read fairy-tales and I like them best of all.”

“When you have nobody you can make a cup of tea for, when nobody needs you, that’s when I think life is over.”

“Living is like tearing through a museum. Not until later do you really start absorbing what you saw, thinking about it, looking it up in a book, and remembering - because you can’t take it in all at once.”

“Make-up can only make you look pretty on the outside but it doesn’t help if you’re ugly on the inside. Unless you eat the make-up.”

“You can always tell what kind of a person a man really thinks you are by the earrings he gives you.”

I loved her in Funny Face, Roman Holiday and Wait Until Dark.

True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul.
This is what makes Audrey Hepburn a classic. She knew this so very well, and her gentleness was a crown. So much fear to be gentle, that we will be run over or treated like a child. But gentle confidence is a force to be reckoned with; Judith, Ester, Mary etc.
