What is this “Peshetta” that fundamentalist’s claim was The New Testament under one cover by 145 AD?

The Peshitta is a sixth century translation of the bible into Aramaic. Speaking of the peshitta, in Matt.16 when Christ names Simon Peter it says “You are Kepha(Rock) and on this Kepha(Rock) I will build my Church.” Peter is the rock. What is this “Peshetta” that fundamentalist’s claim was The New Testament under one cover by 145 AD?![]()
There is actually a whole group of people called the “Aramaic Primacists” that believe that Aramaic is the original language of the bible. It is a very small minority though. They are primarily Oriental Orthodox and some of the other eastern Christians. If you’re interested, there’s a rather lengthy thread about this topic here. I don’t imagine there has been a more vigorous defender of the Peshitta on this site, and (IMHO) he was thoroughly debunked.
