In the book, An Exorcist, More Stories, Fr. G. Amorth said that Peter & James both say that demons are chained in Tartarus. Also Amorth says that even though the demons are chained that does not stop their activity. This activity will contenue until the end of the world.

My questions are:
  1. Where is Tartarus? Is there another Biblical reference to Tartarus?
  2. Does this mean that evil spirits (demons) move back and forth from the world [where we are] to Tartarus? Is Tartarus the same as hell?

Aha! You’ve found the mysterious word that appears nowhere else in the Bible! In fact, this word that Peter uses to describe Hell is a Greek word for the prison of the Titans in greek myths. He is probably referring to the story in the book of Enoch which builds upon a perplexing little snipet in Genesis 6:2. Since they were still waiting for the Judgement, Tartaros may just mean Hades, the world of the dead; not neccessarily Gehenna, the eternal fire, which is the word Jesus used to describe Hell. It is very dark and scary.

Thanks, you must be a scholar to have found that. The way Fr. Amorth wrote the demons can go from the air of the earth back to their prison and visa versa. One demon to;ld him that it is better in that demon prison than to have to face Mary and Jesus. The exorcist had prayed for the spirit of Our Lady and for Jesus to come. Demons get weak in their presence aaand want to leave and go back to Tartarus.
