Pew poll says half of Catholics think that abortion should be legal

How can you be pro-life but not 100%? Do you think that it is OK to kill some innocent children? Either a child in the womb is a human being with a right to life or he/she is not?

Cant really say because I’m not totally sure I’d consider cells human beings, for example

Cino Catholics (Catholic in name only) don’t know the faith. So it would be understandable if they are completely secularized.

C & E Catholics (Christmas & Easter if that) would fit in with that group as well.

Today’s readings at mass were from Deuteronomy. “Today I put before you life and death blessings and curses, choose life…”
 
Should it be legal or not isn’t the issue. The issue is a moral issue. We know that life begins at conception. We know it isn’t just a part of a woman body, it takes two to create a life so it is a part of two different bodies. These catholics fail to understand its not up to them. It is up to God. Abortion is legal, however that doesn’t make it moral. Being legal doesn’t change Gods punishment if you have an abortion.
 
My argument:
  1. They are human (human DNA is unique to humans is it not?)
  2. They exist and therefore are beings
  3. They are alive
  4. They have DNA separate from their parents and are therefore independent biological entities
  5. They are not engaging in hostile acts
Therefore the following conclusions can be made:
  1. The termination of the pregnancy is murder
  2. The termination of the pregnancy kills an innocent human being
  3. Support for the legalization or indifference towards an attempt to criminalize this heinous act is morally unjustifiable
  4. Those who do not actively oppose abortion lead others to sin and therefore commit scandal
  5. Because of the gravity of the sin which is a result of the scandal, those mentioned in the previous conclusion are committing a grave and most likely mortal sin
Please turn away from this sin.

Later, the bishop ordered him to call a meeting to smooth things over with the offended parties as they had threatened in letters to withdraw financial support from the church.

One wonders what the priest actually said to prompt a public display. Cleary it was not simply to express the teaching of the church. People attending church will not publicly declare their support for abortion to their fellow parishioners.
 
There are people who think it’s ok to kill even infants.

Human life begins at conception. Willfully terminating innocent human life is murder.

Is a baby less worthy of protection than a 30-year old? If not, then why is a zygote less worthy? Because the life is within the womb and unseen?

I think that is part of the claim. I think another is that the unborn’s lack of consciousness, capacity for self-awareness and the fact that no other person feels a loss etc renders the act neutral.

Of course, on this base, painlessly murdering a sleeping hermit should also be neutral.

If you live in a BLUE state and are pro-choice, you are progressive.

If you live in a RED state and are pro-life, you are backwards thinking.
 
I know of only one Catholic who doesn’t object to abortion. He doesn’t accept it either though. He just simply doesn’t care what other people do.
Out of all of my other Catholic friends and out of my Dad’s side of the family, everyone is against abortion.
