I have been playing a horror game called phasmophobia recently. In the game, the player is a “ghost hunter” who tries to identify a ghost and collect evidence (random bones, voodoo dolls, pictures of the ghost) to collect money. There are up to four players in a single game and in-game voice chat that is mainly to communicate with other players but also used as (name removed by moderator)ut to trigger events or NPC actions in the game. There is not a defined way to beat the game. The ghost has a favorite room that the players have to discover. The ghost will randomly “hunt” players, meaning that it will track down and kill one of the players (if it can) within a certain time period. Is there anything wrong with playing this game or others like it?

If that’s bad, imagine a game with a whole lotta ghosts.

Like Luigi’s Mansion.

This is a game. It is not real.

Ghosts are not real. The killing in the game is not real. It is like acting in a play.

Why are you even worrying about it? Do you have difficulty distinguishing between reality and a made-up fantasy game?

Why would you think this game would be a sin?

I’m truly baffled by this as we seem to get a question every other day asking if some silly game is a sin.

If you feel uneasy playing it, just stop.
But remember: this is not a real contact with ghosts, but rather a team-focused game in which you have to perform certain tasks (and dont get spooked meanwhile).

Besides, as you well know, because you played it — in Phasmophobia the ghosts/spirits are afraid of crucifix. I call it christian game then 😉
