A man with one watch knows what time it is; a man with two watches is never quite sure. ~Lee Segall
Why is a man with two watches never quite sure what time it is?

That’s only true if the man with one watch has an atomic clock radio receiver on his watch, and furthermore if his counterpart lacks said device. Of course, we can’t say with any certainty that the signals are functioning correctly, that the watch is set for the proper time zone, etc. Measurement of time, however, is a man-made law, an absolute that inherently carries no moral force if it is not obeyed (although it would be horribly inconvenient to fail to keep time with everyone else).

B/c of the unknown/unmeasured/unmeasurable amount of time it takes to see, read, comprehend the time on the first, and then to take another unknown/unmeasured/unmeasurable amount of time to refocus and comprehend the time on the second. and then you have to remember, compare… and then the timepieces, will slowly diverge even by milliseconds… and** then** to realize that it is best to only look at one, or have none, and cherish the fact that, without clocks or attempts at objective measurements of time, the time is now.
sorta zen isn’t it?

We talk about moral compasses. But I like the idea of a moral time piece. Something that would bark raucously the hour, minute, and time zone everytime I walked into a moral conundrum.

I have no idea what effect such raucous barking would have on the morality or immorality of my choices.

Frankly I am not sure I could even think straight with all that raucous barking going on. I would either have to have trained like an olympic moralist or be just plain lucky to get the time piece to shut up again.
