what is luck? how is it defined? how do items becime lucky? can thier luck be recharged? and where does gods will play into all of this?

I don’t believe in luck in the sense that some superstitious action can affect the outcome of my situation. I believe in God’s plan, and that by discerning His will for me, and obedience to His commandments I will be always in the circumstances He has chosen for me. If I can do that, in all circumstances, whether or not they appear by the world’s standards to be good or bad, I will be serving Him, and growing closer to Him.

My free will choices have the most power to determine my personal circumstances–when, where, with whom, and in what manner I live, how I occupy my time, my health, wealth and well-being. The rest is determined by forces beyond my control: nature, weather, politics, government actions etc. and nothing I do will change those influences.

If I decide to live in a coastal area prone to hurricanes, I will very likely suffer the effects of a hurricane sooner or later. If I live in a country whose government and culture are constricting, I can choose to leave it. If I eat the foods that are bad for me and fail to exercise, and use destructive substances for pleasure, I can be sure to suffer the consequences some day.

Do I believe in prayer? Yes, and its chief purpose is to conform my mind and heart to God’s will. To the extent I can cling to that purpose He will always aid, guide and succor me. Can and will he intervene in miraculous ways? Very possibly, should it suit his will, but at his initiative, not mine.
