Does anyone have a link for good resolution photos of a reverently celebrated new mass that I might be able to use to help young children learn the parts of the mass? The ones from the grotto are breathtaking, but that is a unique setting, and I need them to show the priest facing the people as that’s the way it is done around these parts. It would be great if they covered the various distinctive parts of the Mass (from the Entrance procession on…). I’ve found gorgeous photos of Tridentine masses (and Anglican services), but nothing as aesthestically pleasing for the new Mass. Maybe I should not be surprised, but the idea is to teach about the various parts of the Mass and to show these kids the Mass they attend at its very best!

Go to a United Methodist site or an Anglican Use site or to an EWTN site

Ooops…sorry…I don’t see why it really matters…considering it is the Novus Ordo…and it is being celebrated the proper way.

TNT:
Read carefully, the poster wanted “facing the people”

A really great workbook for kids is a coloring/workbook by Paul and Joan Plum called “Teach me about the mass”. It is in a great series that I buy from my local Catholic Bookstore called “I am Special; Teach Me About Series”
ISBN: 0-87973-847-2 / 0879738472

I love every book in the series!

Thanks everyone…this is the closest I’ve come, but this isn’t exactly right for my needs either…It is a cathedral mass and there are girls serving Mass. I live in a diocese where that it is not permitted, so it will only confuse matters if I use those photos. Likewise, though the ad orientem pics are beautiful, I’d rather not use those as normative because it is not that way here. (BTW, I’m not looking for a Methodist or Anglican service at all --it’s only that a search for photos of Mass turned up lovely pictures of Anglican liturgies as well as Tridentine ones. The Novus Ordo isn’t nearly as photogenic it seems.) Guess I’ll keep looking.

This is Ft Worth Tx, Bp Delaney (deceased in July 05)

This is Japan, I believe the Pics are really BIG and lots of them

I love our cathedral! St James is the coolest church i have ever seen personally.

Those are great pics and a good site (though i would advise you look carefully at the pics as Father Ryan isnt the most “litrugically attentive” [that is grossly disregard for the rubrics] man in the world)

Also a strong warning about using pics from St James, if you didnt notice in the first pic on the page, the cathedral has a unique shape and so where things are to be found in the mass might be way different (and not just mirrored as some places are) in the cathedral pics.

Lucky you! The setting is a little grander than usual and not all the pictures suit --for various reasons–but how wonderful that they have this page for children (et al).
