Some people are talented wrt wood carving. I can’t even paint faces properly, let alone carve one from a block of wood! I can see why it’s very special to you.
That is beautiful. My husband and I found ours in a Catholic store when we converted 7-8 years ago. Sadly, the store is no longer and I’ve never found similar pieces to this one. It is much treasured in our home.

Many years ago, I purchased this wooden cutout of Pope St. John Paul II online from an artist woodworker in Missouri. I think he did a pretty good job.
