Hello to one and all, about 3 years ago I was touring around Ireland with a friend when I was listening to the radio.
There was a lady in Dungarvan in County Waterford that had a picture in her shop, and it was brought to the attention of one of her customers that the eyes of the picture opened.
Anyway I couldn’t believe it when I heard that we were in the general direction, so we went to Mellary Grotto first and then went to see the picture in the ladys shop.
The picture is very old, anyway if you enlarge it or zoom in, then that might be better, but the eyes do seem shut then all of a sudden open & vise versa.
If it’s an optical illusion I don’t know but it is strange.
Anyway thought you might like to see it.
Explanations greatly received 👍

What you are seeing is an optical illusion. The painter did a good job of creating the illusion that the eyes are open and are shut.

If you look closely, the eyelashes can serve as the circles below the eyes and the eyes are paintly dimly in the picture.

It might be just me,but this picture struck a “cold-chilling” feeling in me. The eye’s seem to lack a Soul, that was my first impression.

I thought it looked more like sad, after getting beaten around so much, a lot more than the Passion movie can portray, then we wouldn’t look our best either.
The lady that had the picture in her shop was called Rose O’Brien to the best of my recollection, she has a religious shop down on the southern coast of Ireland.
She’s a very pious woman, I stumbled on this picture on the net today, and instantly recognized it.
