The Tridentine Mass was actually done towards the people too in certain circumstances like large papal Masses (similar to above):

Nice picture of Padre Pio. However, I believe the picture was snapped during a Tridentine Mass during the brief moment that the priest turns and says, “Orate Fratres…”

However, since I’ve never been to a Tridentine, I will stand corrected if it does not occur this way, as it does in my Latin Novus Ordo at Assumption Grotto. I’ve snapped many a picture at Grotto at this point of the Mass when the priest turns.

In St. Peters’, as far as I know from what I have read, the Tridentine Mass was always celebrated facing the people. The point was to face east. St. Peters’, because of the landscape it was built on, was built in a way that facing east meant facing the people.

Not strange at all. I think ita a pretty accurate reflection of the way things are.

Correct, just a reflection of the double standard held by those who are “attracted” to the old Mass while hating the current Mass.

They want those of us “attracted” to the normative Mass to be “tolerant” while they show contempt for us and the Mass.
