How does Pierce Brosnan losing his role as "na na da na… Bond, James Bond… “durn”… effect you loving 007 fans? Noooooo! Don’t leave! Chris Farell cant be Bond! He isn’t English!!!

GoldenEye was the worst Bond movie ever. Worse than Licence to Kill, worse than In Her Majesty’s Secret Service. Why? Because Bond was a whiny schmuck in that movie, so full of angst, and yet he runs around killing Russian policemen who aren’t even henchmen, they’re just cops doing their job (not something that is characteristic of Bond in other movies). Lousy lousy lousy movie (the worst performance from Famke Jannsen in her career as well). This was reminiscent of the Timothy Dalton Bond, but much more poorly written.

Tomorrow Never Dies is one of the best Bond movies ever made, it reminded a lot of the old Sean Connery days. Very well written, very well directed, good campy acting – the perfect Bond movie. Score one for Pierce.

Then came The World is Not Enough. Gaggeth unto me with a spoon. This was like a Roger Moore Bond movie, only it wasn’t anywhere near as entertaining as Roger Moore was when he played that kind of Bond (the lousy supporting cast didn’t help).

The last one was okay. It wasn’t great but it wasn’t terrible either. Kind of a so so Bond movie.

All in all, Pierce was the perfect actor to play Bond, but he got stuck with some lousy scripts and wound up making some really forgettable Bond movies, Tomorrow Never Dies being the one exception. I’m sad to see him go but only because his potential to be a great Bond was utterly wasted on unimaginative movies. He never really was given the chance to define who his Bond was. Sean Connery’s Bond was different than Roger Moore’s and Timothy Dalton’s Bond. Each actor up until now (including what’s his face from IHMSS) had their own unique take on the Bond character. Brosnan just wound up playing Bond the same way they did, but differrent in each movie. He never owned the character the way he should have.

I’m really curious who will be next. I can’t even think of an actor who is age appropriate and would fit in the role. They’re going to have to go with a very young Bond this time around or a complete unknown.

Pierce was good but Sean Connery is definantly my favorite James Bond!

As much as I was a fan of Remington Steele, I’ll never forgive them for holding Brosnan hostage – It’s like we were cheated out of some of his best Bond years (I thought Dalton stunk on ice).

While Connery is the
Best
Bond
Ever,
as an admitted [post=860714]Shemp fan[/post], I don’t suppose anyone will be surprised to see me say:

I thought George Lazenby was quite good On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.

I don’t know who will fill Bond’s shoes next, but just last night I was thinking: “Hugh Laurie would make a killer Bond villain”…

Sean Connery was not only the best Bond, but he is still a very good looking man. He is one of the few men alive who look better as they age.

I think that the writers of the next Bond movie will have to realize that one of the appeals of these movies is that Bond is so politically incorrect. He drinks without getting drunk, engages in casual sex without contracting diseases, can beat up anyone, always gets the most beautiful girl and is never spouting off about his emotional feelings. All this makes him fun to watch. If the writers don’t try to feminize him then the next Bond movie should do well. I certainly will be willing to watch it.

Maybe Space Ghost wants the role of Bond. He’d really add an element of ‘surprise’ to the character! And Zorak as his assisntant, really a team.

Dalton was pretty decent in Living Daylights. He played a pretty good Bond I think, one who was a little rougher around the edges but in a charming way.

Licence to Kill (why did they spell it that way?) was one of the worst Bond movies ever made. Up until GoldenEye, I’d say it was the worst. They wrote Bond into an antihero and Dalton played it exactly as it was written. I really don’t blame him for that travesty of a movie.

Lazenby’s Bond was well-played, but he just didn’t look the part. He was just a little bit too doughy to be taken seriously after Connery (yes, even the Connery from Never Say Never Again which was another unfortunate turn in the Bond saga, and one of the movies Connery most regrets making (and he said that after making The Avengers)).

Personally, I think Connery could play a great Bond villain (though he’d never work on a Bond film again), or Sir Ian McKellan as a brilliant aging scientist who dreams of establishing a utopian civilization on a deserted island only he needs to reshape the economy of the world first so that no one interferes (think Goldfinger meets Drax from Moonraker). He could be so intellectually cold while still retaining a false air of humanity through his desire to create a better world the way he sees fit.

Now if only we could find a new Bond.

Sean Connery was the BEST! I would like to see them put the guy from Highlander: The Series. I can’t remember his name right now. I heard that his name had been mentioned, but he would be good, especially to look at!!!

Sean Connery is definantly my favorite James Bond. I even have most of the movies he acted in. Even the odd ball ones.

Adrian Paul is the guy who played Duncan MacLeod. I loved Highlander. What a waste when that show went off the air.

Personally, I’ve never really liked the Bond films. I just can’t get over the fact that the guy should be dead by now. Not from all the explosions and catastrophies, but simply from the fact that the guy should’ve contracted every STD on planet! The man’s a slut! Ugh! Ugh! Ugh!

Best James Bonds ever:
  1. Sean Connery – the way he acted is the reason why every other acted got chosen
  2. Roger Moore – the way he presented James Bond was fantastic; he had the eloquence, the looks, and the attitude

I liked Roger Moore as Bond, but I liked him even more as Simon Templar.

sean connery wasn’t english either-- he’s scottish

chris ferrell: I do not know
3 things are necessary for a good 007. looks,accent & charisma
sounds like james bond will never be the same:crying:
