I’m considering the possibility of taking a pilgrimage sometime this year. It will be a short excursion wherever it happens to be, but a pilgrimage it will be. I’m not sure where, however. It needs to be within the continental United States because my budget is awfully tight, plus I already have a plane ticket which needs to be used sometime this year. I don’t know of any “hot” pilgrimage spots in the continental United States - perhaps because none exist! As much as I would love to travel to Mexico City or elsewhere, I just can’t…not right now.

Just name one or two places in the United States for me to look into. I would appreciate any help on this endeavor.

Depending on just how tight your budget is, you could also opt for a retreat and/or a stay at a Monastary that accepts guests

since there is a plenary indulgence for a trip to Lourdes for the anniversary, or any shrine dedicated to OL of Lourdes, you might look for a location that has a Lourdes grotto and shrine. San Antonio has the grotto on the grounds of the Oblate School of theology, plus the mission trail, shrine of St. Therese, old St. Mary’s, San Fernando Cathedral, and other sacred sites, and makes a great destination.

California missions are another good destination, plus cathedrals of major cities
National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington DC
many cities have multiple sites that make them good pilgrimage destinations, shrines, historic churches, missions etc.

there are dozens if not hundreds in the US, try any Catholic magazine or website under shrines and pilgrimages

San Antonio and Massachusetts seem like feasible opportunities…
 
Massachusetts, you have the National Shrine of Divine Mercy, in Stockbridge. While there you can also visit the Norman Rockwell Museum.

Instead of a pilgrimage to a shrine, why not make a week-end retreat ?

There are various places in Massachusetts to make a retreat, including the Shrine of Divine Mercy. Also, is St. Joseph’s Abbey in Spencer. MA. St Scholastica Priory and St. Mary’s Monastery in Petersham, Ma.
