I have found myself on a business trip only a couple of hours from the Basillica with about 12 free hours (if I don’t sleep much;)

I went to confession on Wednesday and will fast tomorrow. Setting my alarm now, very exited. Hope I can sleep.

If anyone would like a prayer said on their behalf or for some one else post a first name and I’ll include it in my prayers and light a candle for all of them while I’m there.

Peace be with you

Nicholas. Intention for purity and that I am do good on my state testing

How exciting!! I have always wanted to visit the National Basilica of the Immaculate Conception. And to be able to visit during the Year of Mercy and walk through the Holy Doors makes it more beautiful!

I hope you will post about your experience later.

You can use my username and my prayer request is for finances and peace in my family life (I live with my son and daughter-in-law and 2 grandchildren) and perserverence.

Thank you!

Prayers said and candles lit😀

Sorry for the delay in posting, it was a long trip home and I had a lot waiting on my return.

I highly recommend making the effort to worship at the Basilica, and spend time there.

I went to mass at 730 and sat with some nuns. It was a short but reverent weekday service. There was a genuine since of holy purpose to the service.

I then took a little time to walk around and when I felt a calling began a rosary at a mosaic of the immaculate conception. I walked the entire basilica saying a prayer of the rosary at the different chapels. I finished with the divine mercy prayers as I went through the Door of Mercy.

I then spent a little more time inside and bought a few things at the gift shop. Then a stroll around the outside and the Marian garden, and back to my car at the free parking(very unusual in DC:thumbsup:)

I hope I can make a pilgrimage there someday. I can picture how beautiful it must be. I am happy you were able to make the trip and thanks for the prayers.
