I think 2 was even stupider, but this one was pretty stupid also. The crabs were the best part!

The first one was funny and light --a great summer movie. These last 2 they were obviously just cashing in.

I actually really liked this film. I thought it was well written, explained things quite well. The effects were impressive, it was beautifully shot.

Has anyone seen the movie? If so, what did you think? I would love to start a discussion but I don’t want to spoil it for anyone who hasn’t seen it. I just saw it today. Comments, anyone?

I just saw it. WAAAAAAYYY to long of a movie to hold my attention. Visually the movie was great, lots of effects and images that were stunning to view. But I should have waited for it to come out on DVD. After 2 hours I almost walked out. Not saying it was bad, I don’t think it was a bad movie (not a great one either) but after 2 hours I really could have been doing something else.

So I found out what the extra scene on the third movie was and it made me realize, was there one for the second pirate movie, because I missed that too. Does anyone know? Can you tell me?

It’s rated as “12A” in the UK, meaning suitable for people of 12 years old and above. Hardly aimed at 6 year olds as you so put it.

If the movie isn’t aimed at 6 year olds, they certainly market it as such. Wal Mart is chock full of toy pirate swords (“Jack Sparrow’s Sword”) and tons of other stuff no 12 year old would be caught dead with. These toys are marketed to LITTLE boys… 5 and 6 years old. I don’t mind that Disney makes movies for an older crowd, with edgy stuff in it… but then stop the relentless marketing to little kids. They want their cake and eat it too. Unless Disney is truly evil and just wants to corrupt kids… ha ha! (this is a semi-tongue-in-cheek allusion to the boycott of Disney by the Southern Baptist Convention several years back)

All three movies have a scene after the credits. The first one explains how Jack the Monkey was still “immortal” even though Barbossa’s crew were turned mortal again. The second one involved the dog with the keys, but no real bearing on the story.
