For Eucharistic Adoration the priest puts the monstrance on top of the taberncale which is located behind the altar on the center axis of the church building. He does not place the monstrance on the altar. Since the monstrance is not on the altar, many people do not realize that it is exposed until the priest goes to reserve it. Is this okay? I’ve never seen any other parish do it this way. Comments?

Our Tabernacle is in a chapel, separated from the main Church by large windows. After the host is exposed in the main church the monstrance is processed to the chapel and placed on the Tabernacle for 24-hour adoration. The next morning it is processed back to the main church for Benediction and reposed.

This works well because it leaves the main church free for wedding rehearsals and other activities. The chapel accommodates 20-30 people; so is adequate for adoration. The main church easily accommodates the 200-300 present for Exposition and Benediction.

The Tabernacle is on a large stand front and center in the Chapel; so is the only logical place to put the Monstrance.
