Planned Parenthood Celebrates the Birth Control Pill**

** (CNSNews.com)** - The Planned Parenthood Federation of America is celebrating the “birthday of birth control” on Tuesday.
At a rally in Washington, D.C., Planned Parenthood and abortion rights supporters plan to hoist a giant birth control pill and pill pack as part of their celebration.
A pro-life group will be there, too, staging a counter-demonstration to “unveil the truth” about birth control pills.
On June 7, 1965 – five years after the Food and Drug Administration approved birth control pills – the U.S. Supreme Court struck down a Connecticut law that outlawed the use of birth control by married couples. That case, Griswold v. Connecticut, affirmed the right to privacy in marital relations.
But in the 40 years since then, “women still face unnecessary and often politically motivated barriers to contraception,” the Planned Parenthood Federation of America says.
“As we celebrate today, we know that the battle for access to birth control is not over,” Interim President Karen Pearl said in a statement on the PPFA website.
