Here’s a recent argument I’ve seen sprout up:

That Planned Parenthood provides needed services other than abortion. Usually numbers are brought out and discussed - the idea being that if we defund Planned Parenthood then other women will suffer.

This argument provides good emotional cover for the wrongs that are committed by Planned Parenthood - but it’s not logical, or at least, I don’t think so based on PP’s behavior.

PP must be aware that abortion services are controversial. And as providing non-controversial general reproductive care to women is good, it would be logical to spin off their abortion services into a separate company in order to increase funding, donations, and good will. Thereby increasing care.

That they don’t follow this logic should tell us that they view themselves as an abortion provider first and foremost, with other services as being ancillary.

PP is just plain evil, IMO. Yes, they may provide other services to women. They also perform a lot of abortions and sell the aborted babies’ organs. Those two issues negate any possible good that they may have been able to do for women, IMO.

I recently had a discussion about this with one of my pro-choice friends. She basically said the same thing, that PP is good because they provide other services and if we shut them down then other “patients” would suffer. But regardless of what other services they offer, they are still killing innocent human beings. I believe the logic can be flipped, for example, many of my more liberal friends would agree that that bakery that refused to serve the gay wedding should be shut down over it, but why? Using their logic it would be wrong to punish a whole company and their customers simply because they engage in a practice (the alleged discrimination) that you disagree with. It’s almost as if refusing to bake a cake is somehow worse than refusing someone their natural right to life…The same argument can be made about the dentist that killed that lion (that i’m pretty sure nobody even knew existed until it died…) If we lock him up because he did one thing that is bad, think of all of his patients that would “suffer.” By PP-supporters’ logic, it would be wrong to put him in jail because he offers so many more services than just lion killing!

I heard a good refutation to this is,

“If Planned Parenthood does not provide Mammograms, they really aren’t in the service of care for women’s health”.

This must mean, providing mammograms is of utmost importance in this area.

🙂

Pick and choose logic.

The irony is that abortion and birth control have been linked to breast cancer. I guess the mammograms are greatly needed because of ths? 😉

Adolph Hitler and John Gotti both did much good. I’m not inviting either of them to my barbeque.

Planned Parenthood was founded by Margaret Sanger for the purpose of eugenics - elimination from society of those deemed to be inferior. Inferior means non-white, physically handicapped or physically weak, developmentally challenged, poor eyesight, bad teeth, curly hair, freckles, left handedness, high cholesterol, overweight…

Planned Parenthood is the modern day Molech - the god to which people used to sacrifice infants. They have murdered as many people as the Nazi’s times ten.

Every good deed the organization has ever done is a coverup for eugenics and genocide.

I liked Dr Ben Carson’s reply: “I thought that they were supposed to be able to get all those things based on Obamacare. Why do we need Planned Parenthood?”

They dole out contraceptives, maybe do a manual breast exam, however, this is cursory. If they were really invested in women’s health they would do mammograms.Bottom line they are an abortion mill and baby parts dealer, they are diabolical and must be stopped!

I think this graphic from Democrats for Life is all the rebuttal we need.

But just in case that last graphic wasn’t enough, here’s a map showing all the licensed facilities in the country providing mammograms compared with just those operated by Planned Parenthood:

👍👍👍 Couldn’t agree you with anymore.

I am sure Hitler helped out several unemployed Germans find work, but that certainly does not excuse the crimes of the Third Reich. How many lives has PP “terminated?”

Certainly not. About 60 millions.

Oh boy, I would have been a goner. I’m left-handed.

I’m well familiar with that argument (“PP is about so much more than just abortions”). But there’s another one I encountered last week which really made my head spin, namely that PP keeps abortion rates even lower than they would be without it by promoting birth control! Well isn’t that peachy?

As I’ve said before, there are other options that provide MORE of those services than Planned Parenthood. Here are a couple more links to help respond to both of these claims:
