Hi. I’m sure you get questions like this all the time, so I’m sorry if this is annoying.

I am fairly certain that I did not commit this sin, but I have a question about whether I blasphemed the Holy Spirit. My family has ties to the charismatic movement, and I have often heard about the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, speaking in tongues, faith healing, etc. I have at times felt slightly uncomfortable with it because it can be disconcerting, but I do not doubt that the healings are from the Holy Spirit.

However, I came upon a thread in this forum where a certain member was claiming that it - the baptism of the Holy Spirit - could be demonic, or at least not from the Holy Spirit. I didn’t think much of it until today, when I suddenly wondered if it might be demonic. I thought about it, and came to the conclusion that the baptism of the Holy Spirit and the other things weren’t demonic.

I am at a point in my life where I have been questioning many of my beliefs because of a sudden interest in philosophy. I’m happy to say that my faith has come through it alright. While I did not come to the conclusion that these things I mentioned were demonic, I briefly doubted/questioned if they were from God. I am wondering if this questioning of things that I have no doubt are from the Holy Spirit is in fact blasphemy. I hope not, and I appreciate your answer. Thank you very much.

Oh, and should I confess this to a priest?

In Christ,
