Is it this purely natural state that is inclined toward sin? And if so, does that mean that humans have always by nature tended toward sin, and the only reason we did not follow these inclinations originally is because of Grace?
No, that is not what inclines us toward sin. Lets go back to the car example, loss of gasoline (sanctifying grace) left the nature of the car undamaged. Concupiscence is not sin, but another consequence of the fall, it is similar to the car’s wheels being knocked out of alignment. We have to fight the urge to go with the misaligned wheels, but unfortunately we are so accustomed to this crooked driving it takes spiritual exercises to lessen the urge to go with what “feels natural” but is in fact a bad habit.

After the fall man was subject to pain, bodily decay and death, this led to lusts (disordered desires) for what were actually good things (food, sex, rest, etc).
