Please help me. i am really considering converting to another religion. The reason being is i read an article in the poitics forum about priests having child porn on their computers and some having gay sex! Ahhhhhhhhh!!:bigyikes: I love the Catholic Church but it seems to me it has gotton really bad! Please i don’t know if it is the devil trying to pull me away or What! This really disgusts me! How can these people spread the word of God, and be doing this, when they know it is wrong. I’m starting to believe their are no good priests out there anymore, shoot, i would be afraid to have my kids around them. Please, Please, help me out.

Greetings Church

I know how devistating this Scandal has been to the Church.

I would like you to think about something. For a very long time, we have had sick and deadwood on this tree we call Church. I firmly believe God is shaking all the sick and deadwood off and pruning it, cleanly. What usually happens when a tree is pruned like this? It bears fruit in **ABUNDANCE! **

Personally, I want to be here when the tree goes into new bloom.

It is going to be awesome!

Personally I have never met a priest who has had these types of issues. Yet I know many many good priests.
But good luck finding a religion which has no sinners.
You can’t judge a religion based on those who do NOT follow it’s teachings.

Don’t leave Jesus because of Judas! These are hard times for the Church and us Christians, the Catholic Church by no means is the only religious institution going through scandal involving sex. It’s part of the times we live in culturally, if you look around you can see the immorality everywhere and we need now more than ever to hold fast to the one unchanging Church and her sacraments for strength and wisdom in these times.

Jesus tells us there will always be weeds in the wheat (Matt.13:24-30) meaning evil will be among us. As hard as it may be, we have to allow God to measure His perfect justice to these types of people and to ensure in our daily lives that we don’t become one of the weeds as well!

Here’s a link to a short article explaining why evil exists in the Body of Christ. I hope you find it helpful:

Meanwhile - continue to persevere, pray for strength and for the Church, and take things one day at a time for now. God Bless!

Dear RomanRyan1088;
Keep calm and at peace in the Lord. Fear nothing. If you have ever studied the history of the church, you will always find sinners sinning in all walks of life and occupations even popes. That doesn't mean that Our Lord didn't die on the cross to redeem us and placed Peter as head of the church He founded! There are many, many more holy and obedient priests. The Franciscan Friars of the Renewal, Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter, etc........are just a few that come to mind. I don't know your age so I suggest that you study the teachings of the church, pray for grace to continue in the Catholic faith and realize that sinners sinning do not determine if the church is true or not. If you haven't yet, go to Karl Keatings website [www.catholic.com](www.catholic.com) and educate yourself. Most of all don't panic just pray to Our Lady and your Guardian Angel. All of us reading this post will keep you in our prayers too. :)

Do not let the media reports upset you. There are sinners everywhere (except Heaven). Yes, even in the church.

The overwhelming majority of clergy and religious are wonderful God-loving people who are just as shocked :bigyikes: as you as the sinfulness or even alleged sinfulness of other human beings that would do such things.

Listen to EWTN and you will see good priests preaching the full truth of the Church. Look around your area and you can find good priests.

Remember what Jesus said about the Pharisees and their teachings. Follow the authentic teachings that they give you, reject their sinful example and live true holy lives.

Pray for the Church and the clergy.

:gopray2: Dear God, please bless the leaders within the Church with a zeal for holiness, the courage to stand against society for the truth, the wisdom to understand all sides of an issue, and the strength to act like Christ would act. Inspire all members of the Church to pray for renewed holiness within the Church and all its members and bless them with peace and a love of Truth. We ask this through the Father, the Son, and The Holy Spirit. Amen. :gopray2:

Jennipher, I cannot agree with you more. These are difficult times for the church. Leaving Christ because of Judas does not look like a good option for me either.

I am in formation for priesthood at the moment. Some of the things happening at the moment in the seminaries leaves me with the notion that may be, the Church is not doing enough in the area of weeding the garden. I have been discouraged many times at such. I have contemplated quiting the formation programme on a number of occassions, I keep reminding myself that I am not here because of the others. I am here for the greater good of humankind and our relationship with the Almighty.

My advice for you RomanRyan1088 is that if you should ever convert from Catholicism do not do it because of a few priests that have scandalised us all. What will happen if wherever you go you find that the pastor there is involved in any kind of scandal? This may be a woke up call for you to pray for priests. They need our prayers to be resilient.

Also keep in mind, there’s no reason anyone has to leave their children alone with anyone else at all. While times are as they are, perhaps it is best for parents to be more watchful and not abandon their children to outside supervision. And if there are retreats or other outings, parents who are concerned can always volunteer to help out and go along.

RomanRyan1088 –

You have already received some wonderful advice and guidance in this thread. I just want to add that the only place you can receive Jesus Truly Present, Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity, is in the Blessed Sacrament of the Catholic Church. No matter what else is happening around us, Jesus is waiting for us on the altar. Don’t disappoint Him!

Jesus was betrayed by 1 of 12. That’s about a 9.09% ratio of sinners to saints. And Jesus chose Judas, knowing he would be betrayed!

I’d venture to guess that the ratio in the Catholic Church’s current flock of shephards is far better, more in the area of 2-6% (or lower). Other churches are not likely to fair much better.

I’d go with the odds.

I’ll also resort to Wm. F. Buckley’s quote on this topic: “Search for the perfect church, if you will; when you find it, join it, and realize that on that day it becomes something less than perfect.”

I mentioned this once in passing to a deacon suggesting that God sometimes calls those he knows will betray him pointing to Judas as an example. Well this deacon flew into a rage saying there is no way God would call people who would do these things. I was shocked at the anger, I have no idea why he would have found the idea so offensive.

God bless you, RomanRyan!
i’ve always gotten a charge thinking about how John-John and Andy were only 16-17 years old when the Baptist said, ‘there goes the Lamb of God’, and so they began to follow Jesus. i bet Daddy is getting a charge out of your faith right now!
you might think of asking John-John and Andy to help you grow in foritude; their faith was challenged many times, in many ways.
for instance, Andy may have had days when he’d think, ‘what was J thinking when he put Pete in charge?..he wasn’t even that good as a fisherman…I could out-fish him and i havn’t thrown a net in, i don’t know how many months…i don’t know how this is supposed to work…romans, jews and greeks all against us and PETE is in charge…this is crazy!’
but they were able to stick it out, they can help you to do it, too.
anywho, i’ll keep you, and everyone struggling in their faith, in my prayers.
thanks for listening, love and peace, terry

Thank you for your service, and I will pray that you will find strength to carry on in your formation and for perseverence. I know things are bad in some of our seminaries. I had a friend who was in formation and saw some pretty frightening things. But please know that we will be praying for you and that you are needed in the Church. Be sure to ask our Blessed Mother for intercession! 🙂
