Our women’s bible study is having brunch with the Protestant women’s bible study next week to build fellowship and we would like to take this opportunity discuss with them the possibly of doing some charitable events together as united Christians.

Anyways, I have no ideas lol I have some ideas, but I feel like they are boring or have been done.

What would be some good charitable activities/events for both our groups to get involved in to join together in cooperation?

We want it to be something we develop (Catholics) that will also help us gain recognition in our community. We are a small group and they have hundreds of members and put on many events on their own. We’d like to own this so to speak, but invite them to join us solidarity.

Family type events, fundraisers, etc. Anything really, a talent show? Something to garner attention while successfully benefiting the benefactors and providing entertaining fellowship.

When I was in another state several years ago we had a combined ladies group that did a great social service while we had time to talk and get to know each other. We gathered once a week to clean and reverbish used toys, clothes and games to be given to children and needy families at Christmas. Since Pope Francis has challenged us to refocus ourselves on the needs of the poor and underserved you would certainly be fulfilling this charge for Catholics while helping others in your community. We delivered over ten thousand packages at Christmas!

FWIW What about an open friendly discussion about the similar and different beliefs, an ecumenical dialogue in the spirit of love. You can have some coffee and pastries or the like, to give a relaxing informal atmosphere Let them supply some ideas. You might get a clue from the discussions without coming right out and asking them. I had one recently with a woman trying to understand our beliefs regarding the Blessed Mother. An open informal question and answer meeting. Make a suggestion to them, feel them out, maybe they have the same idea.

Here are TWO

A food bank for the needy

A Hot meal: one time at each church alternating the location for the NEEDY

God Bless you,
