i need advice, my best friend asked me for help and advice tonight as his wife has walked out and left him and his 2 young kids, what should i advise him to do or where to get help, tact and rashful thinking is not my strong point

get a good lawyer…sorry, that’s all i can think of right now

First of all let him know he is not alone. This has to be devastating. Second tell him to hold those kids close as they share the same pain. The lawyer is a good idea. Without way more details that you would want to give over the internet I can’t do much for him or you other than some common sense basics.

1.Get lawyer /Get custody
2.Change locks, home, car ect
3.Try and keep routines as normal for children as possible
4. Inform school if kids are school age.
5. Find family, or friends who can help while he figures everything out. (grandma, cousin, aunt, any warm responsible body)
6. Close all accounts she has access too, bank, credit ect
7. Take all the kids in for a check up by pediatrician today.

His first job is to protect his family. His kids are now the focus of that family. This way he protects the home they live in the money that pays for it to provide for them as best as he can.

Ouch! No one knows why the wife walked. She may have had good reason. Be very careful in giving advice. I remember someone giving me advice when my boy friend and I broke up. He eventually became my husband and I remembered that person telling me how bad he was. I believe they told me that to make me feel better about the breakup but I felt anger towards the person. Remembering that when my friends husband left her for another women and asked me what I felt I told her that I couldn’t get beyond the pain. She was relieved with that answer for it acknowledged her pain without being acusatory.

Jodi’s advise is good but be careful and pray for both of them.

retrouvaille.org/

See if her can convince her to do a Retrouvaille weekend. It saved my marriage. I will keep you friend in my prayers.

Be sure to tell the kids that this has absolutely nothing to do with them (assuming they are at the age of understanding).
