I’ve been married almost a year. I was non-Catholic, but christian, and my husband is a caddle Catholic. I’m converting to Catholism, and I’m so excited, but I’m having some problems. My husband is liberal in his beliefs, and doesn’t always agree with the church’s teaching about birth control, sexual purity in marriage, and many other things. I want to do my very best to follow all the church teaching, but I’m lacking the support at home. I’m tired of arguing and fighting over different things, and sometimes I feel he may be hindering my faith. I don’t know what to do…I won’t leave him, and I’m praying. What can I do to encourage him, without arguing?

Welcome Home to the Catholic Church!!! I would not try to encourage him. I would simply teach by example. As a cradle Catholic I have found that more often than not, I am challenged the most in my faith by Catholic Converts. I would pray, alot for guidance and possibly seek out a spiritual director, someone who can help guide you in your faith journey. I will keep you in my prayers.

Surely you don’t mean that he doesn’t believe in physical fidelity?!?!?
I hope I have this wrong, but if he DOESN’T, this is a huge problem, not only morally, but also with a question of guarding your health.

I don’t mean that he is “sleeping around,” but he likes porn, and I feel aweful when he wants to watch it. I feel dirty and like I’m not enough.

God bless you and welcome home!

What should you do? What should we all do?

Be a saint. Here and now.

Pursuing the call to holiness in the midst of ordinary life does wonders. It’s Elisabeth Leseur’s story, and after her death her husband not only converted from atheism but became a priest!
