Hello all…

I don’t know if anyone has put this issue forward on the board but I’ll say it anyway… just in case, and it’s rather important and surely needing many immediate storms of prayers 🙂 😉

The issue I’m talking about is the debates regarding the legalisation of the notorious abortion pill, RU486 in Australia… For so long up to now the drug is illegal anywhere throughout the Australian health system… it is due to the hard work and excellent whistleblowing from our practicing Catholic federal health minister, Tony Abbott. Just a couple of months ago, for reasons unclear, the drug legalisation issue has been put under debate again on the parliament tables… Sadly the minister was blamed by the opposition party and a lot of other women health organisations… while many people back Tony’s sturdy standing point, including a lot of Catholics, “conscience” votes are being undergone in the parliament houses. Just two days ago the upper house has passed the bill (demanding legalisation)… with the majority of women members in favour.

Now the bill is passed onto the lower house… predictions smell the likelihood that this bill would pass (which of course we Catholics don’t want - some protested with “Ministers, get your rosaries off my ivories” t-shirts)… The debate has been absolutely disgusting for the last couple of days… our good Catholic health minister received some blasphemy (“it’s not about you or your religion” stuff)… Now may I encourage all of you out there to pray with me on this issue… we definitely don’t want to see easy access to this very harmful drug which could kill many… many!!.. Please… thank you so much and God bless… 🙂

Check this news…

You are right Silky…it is very hard to stomach or awallow a possibility of such casual slaughter…it is an abortion issue. It simply makes it easier to aquire, as you do not even have to go to a slaughter house to have this done.

Like asking Gods forgiveness, and asking a priest…somehow the reality of facing another human reinforces the shame attached to sin. This pill is removing the shame attached to the task of abortion.

Killing, ending or assisting in any death, is simply wrong!!! I know in some cases, where there is suffering, it is so easy to want our own desires addressed, and want them to pass on without suffering…but we are not supposed to PLAY GOD!

On a different note, i was interested in seeing who this oppinion was comming from…so i did look at your profile. I simply ask others to do so, just to see Silky’s age!!! It further intrigued me, as Silky “had me at hello!” The Age and the maturity, elloquence, and complete compassion for the topic was overwhelming to me.

It is a credit to this world that one can speak with proper perspectives, without getting into name calling or jabbing the other side… Silky’s first thought was to one ~ be informed. Two ~ be aware. Three ~ to be compassionate for all involved.

SIlky simply asks for the help that has moved mountains before…

Prayer…you got it Silky!!!

Hm… thanks for pointing that out… you just got me rather embarrassed there for a minute… 😛 🙂 … well okay I just thought there needs to be some stronger actions taken by us, yet obviously we can’t just intimidate the government to the extent that we want to… 😉 … so prayer is the only way… and it’s absolutely been proven to be efficacious…

Exactly…you thought, they do not!

you actually blushed…neat! I did not mean to embarrass you, i was very proud of you. My late son was like that…it was touching to hear this compashion delivered so honestly…and you backed it up with links…i bet you kick out a mean essay too!

I will watch this thread, send my son to interceed on our behalf…he’s got some cool prayer warriors up in heaven…and hope that this helps.

Prayers, going up!

By the way I have recieved word that we (Australians) can still write to the members of the house of reps about this issue before they take a vote on it. Particularly useful to write to your local member. You can find contact details of house of reps members at www.aph.gov.au.

This state is run by the labor… so I guess the premier would support the legalisation anyway… or not?.. Don’t know his view on this… Hmm… local members… I guess so… if we do have time though…

I’d try anyway, you can’t loose!

All the states are run by Labor but that’s got nothing to do with who your local federal member is. For most local areas there is a Liberal member (duh, otherwise Liberal would not be in power at federal level). And this is a federal issue. Liberal actually states itself to be neutral on the abortion issue so you never know whether your member is for or against it unless you ask them yourself.

Btw… when is the next debate in the House? (Which of course, I’m assuming would announce the final result)…

:: ~Edward~ :: :bible1:

Well, it wouldn’t announce the final result about the pill, just whether the federal minister for health has power to make decisions about the import of the drug (which us pro-lifers want, as he is a Catholic) or whether the Therapeutic Goods Association has that power (bad because the TGA is sponsored by the pharmeceuitcal companies who are likely to be in favor of the drug since it would mean more money for them). Still, keep praying about it even if the House of Reps decides to hand power over to the TGA. We don’t know the date of the vote yet.
