Surely one of the great ones with her tremendous vocal talent. May she rest in peace.

A brilliant talent. She’ll be jamming with all the greats tonight. RIP.

May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace. Amen.

Our Father, Who art in heaven
Hallowed be Thy Name;
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

I loved her voice so much. She could sing anything and sing it well. Listen to some of her gospel songs and you can see the influence of the church on her. Her father was a well known minister and she and her sisters grew up singing in the choir.
RIP to the Queen of Soul. I don’t think any of today’s singers can compare.

Yes, I love her so. She is untouchable. However, she isn’t well-known in Viet Nam.

Here talents are unbelievable, and one fabulous demonstration of that is her performance at the Grammy’s in 1998 whereas “Nessun Dorma”, which is a terribly difficult song to sing that was made a classic by the Great Caruso and was to be sung by Pavarotti at the show. However, he took ill, so they asked Aretha if she’d sing it, and she had less than two hours to relearn it, so let’s see how you think she did? [make sure you listen for the ending]:

BTW, she lived about a 20 minute drive from our place here near Detroit.

BTW, my favorite rendition of “Nissun Dorma” is by Il Volo, and it was recorded at the beautiful cathedral in Florence that my wife and I visited in 2001 (my wife was born & raised in Italy). Their version literally brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it:
