After being friends for a few years and dating for one and a half year, my ex-boyfriend told me that he’s not sure anymore, that marriage is the vocation for him (three months before we wanted to get married) and that he’s feeling called to become a Dominican Friar.
We broke up now and he returned to his home country, to stay with his family for a while and visit a Dominican convent for a few weeks, in hopes of finding some clarity. The issue is that due to the particularities and the bureaucracy of our different countries he’ll only have until the end of July to make his decision, should he discern that marriage is his vocation after all, because we won’t be able to marry if he doesn’t return then. This makes him feel a lot of pressure and he doesn’t have a great support system in his home country, so he feels very confused, lonely and stressed about everything.
We agreed that we should give each other space to each try and discern what God wants us each to do, so we are not talking at the moment.
I’m here to ask you to please, please pray for him, so that he can be strong in this difficult situation and follow God’s will for him, no matter what it may be or how painful it may be at first.
(I hope I do not sound rude or bad. English isn’t my first language and I’m not very good yet at dealing with the subtle nuances of it)
