I need to tell my parents that I think I am called to cloistered life. This is going to be hard because the monastery where I am thinking of applying to is in Louisiana…far from NZ. And it is Dominican. My parents will be allowed a maximum of 9 visiting days a year. I am thinking of applying for next January.

I’m still a bit confused as to what God wants. I had always felt kind of called to the Poor Clares as well.

I am asking for major, full-on prayers about this. I pray for strength, courage, insight, peace with whatever outcome happens, and for the grace to TRUST and have faith in our Awesome God. I ask for our Lady to intercede for me and for me to imitate her “yes” Also, for the intercession of both Saint Clare and Dominic to lead me to God and live as He wants.

And thanks to the parents who answered the other thread I put up! it was really helpful

👍

My prayers will indeed be for you, poppiedancer! You sound like such an awesome person - someone who is an inspiration to so many by your daily growth in holiness! Messages like yours fill me with such joy!

.My heart jumped with joy reading your note, you and your family will be remembered in my prayers, it reminds me of a young friend who joined the Augustinians a few year back.May God Bless you and lead you poppiedancer. 🙂

Poppie, remember, setbacks and struggles are often part of this process. To become discouraged or resigned to failure means that the vocation wasn’t there in the first place. Many vocations have been settled only after enormous difficulties with family and other obstacles. Just pray (and know) that if God wants you in that monastery, He will be the one to put you there.

God love ya!

Thanks, thats so sweet, but really. I am soooooooo far from holiness! And I will definitely keep you all updated…I’m thinking of writing a letter to my parents to explain it…

The thing is…I don’t know if I should mention that I feel called overseas. Again, I’ve had 2 conflicting opinions…either tell it all outright or say Im called to the cloister first, then once they are used to it tell them its overseas.

Thanks and I’ll keep you and your kids in my prayers too!
