Hello everyone,

Right now, I am battling addiction (pornography and drug abuse). It is absolutely awful. I feel horrible when I do either and I just feel as if I do not have ANY control in my life right now. I am really, really trying to get myself back on the right path. I go to mass daily and pray every single night, but I’m not sure if I feel God’s presence in my life. I know he is there, but I just don’t feel it. 😦 Please, please pray for me that I will have the strength and perseverance to overcome my two addictions and to live a better and pure life as a Catholic.

Does anyone know any good prayers to help me along the way? How do I know God’s presence is with me? NO matter how much I pray, I always end up failing. I feel so much shame for myself and especially God. Please, please help! ANY advice will be appreciated.

The “Our Father”, is the prayer that our Lord Jesus gave us, it is a complete prayer and the rosary is very powerful.

Listen, Peter failed the Lord three times and in calvary only John was there, so the Lord Knows how weak we all are, but we are not to give in to those weaknesses. We should conquer them for our well being and to glorify God. You need the help of a priest, it is good to fight these things with the support of others, also visit AA meetings. They help with a lot more than alcohol issues, I used to go to support my dad in his treatment and it really is a great help.

God bless you and strengthen you.

I would try praying to St. Michael. Don’t feel discouraged that you aren’t getting anywhere. The devil will whisper thoughts of futility at you and he is your enemy in this matter.

Don’t worry about falling either. We will fall and get up our entire lives!! Just make confession a part of your getting up and staying up. :o

Heavenly Father, please help blue_sharpie in his afflictions. Protect him from temptation and lead him unto Your powerful and eternal grace. Lift him when he falls. Uphold him when he stands. Through the Immaculate Heart of Our Mother, we pray to You Lord. Amen. :harp:

You are not alone! We are here to help you by praying for you! Don’t be so hard on yourself. God knows that you hate the situation you are in and are trying to overcome these temptations. He IS with you, though you may not feel it. I often do not feel His presence - but I go on by faith alone - just as you are doing. Have you read the biography of Mother Teresa? She didn’t “feel” God for about 40 yrs.! But she always KNEW in her heart He was there! Maybe you could trying reading that. I found it very enlightening and inspiring. I agree with the other poster: pray the rosary. It is very powerful! Maybe just pick it up and start praying it immediately when you feel you may give in to your temptation. You are a child of God and are SO loved by Him. Don’t give up on Him. He’s not giving up on you and neither am I! God bless you and hang in there!!👍

I hope you are also receiving some type of treatment for your drug addiction?

I will keep you in my prayers as well.

Powerful intercessory prayers will be ones to St. Michael the archangel.

I also suggest to Padre Pio, he used to be tempted a lot by Satan, very directly in the form of naked women that the devil appeared as and a host of other things, but he perservered, he knows how you feel, pray for his intercession. I have prayed for you.

Here is a prayer to Padre Pio:

Prayer to St. Rita:

I also recommend putting up a picture of Jesus, one of the saints and mother mary on your desktop or wherever your computer is.

God Bless

Have courage and realise that you are as scriptures say “having the same trials and tribulations as the rest of your brothers in the faith.”

Bow humbly under God’s mighty hand and submit everything to Him. Give Him permission to take over and sort it out.

I would ask you to do one thing: Find your nearest tabernacle and there, before Jesus present in the Blessed Sacrament, prostrate yourself on the ground before Him in total submission.* (Many find this difficult to do, but if you want to seriously mark the beginning of you conversion this is a must)* In His presence and under His hand let go of everything until you actually feel yourself emptying of all that is causing you pain in your life and filling up with the life and love of God. Then get up, leaving on the floor behind you all that is causing your relationship with Christ to suffer. Go to Confession and begin again.

Catholics are always beginners! We must never allow ourselves to forget that. Begin and begin again. Be willing to begin again and again never goving into self pity or despair which can so easily happen in the souls of those wishing progress.

Begin and begin again remembering that we never begin from the same place but always from several steps forward.

Be at Peace.

God, grant me the Serenity
to accept the things I cannot change…
Courage to change the things I can and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time, enjoying one moment at a time, Accepting hardship as the pathway to peace.
Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it.
Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His will.
That I may be reasonably happy in this life,
And supremely happy with Him forever in the next.
Amen.

Say the Rosary every day!

Praying for your intentions:

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

God Bless
In Jesus through Mary
