Just came to update…
I took the pills at 8:45pm, felt a few twinges til 10. I had taken prescription Motrin at 7:30 just to be prepared for the pain… I was so sleepy around 11pm I fell asleep and woke up at 12:20am in pain that was agonizing. I was screaming and crying from the pain. I couldn’t sit, walk, lay down. I tried going to the bathroom and I was about to faint. I had DH call the advise nurse and they told me to go to the ER. I didn’t want to but the pain was so extreme (and I had my natuaral miscarriage, which had been the worst pain I’d ever felt and had it unmedicated), that I didn’t care any more. DH drove to the hospital. I was there from 12:30ish am till about 8:15am this morning.
When I got they they triaged me, but I was the only one in the ER so they took me right in, first time I’ve seen that happen (an ER being empty). I had to wait for a few minutes, maybe 30, maybe less. Since I was in excrutiating pain I don’t know how long it was. The dr came in after the nurses set me up in an ICU room gave me an IV and gave me a shot of Zofran for the nausea to come from the meds I was going to get. Finally they gave me a shot of morphine. I think it was more than 30 ccs because I was crying from the pain. That didn’t even work. 10 minutes later they had to give me another shot. That helped a bit.
A dr came in checked my abdomen (ouch!) and then said they had called the OB on call but it was going to be awhile before he would arrive. After he did that (ck my abdomen) the pain got way worse and this time I was moning, crying and not even letting DH near me or speak to me. They gave another shot of morphine, this time it took the pain for a while.
The OB finally arrived around 3am. He did an u/s to check the baby and then did an internal ceck. The internal check hurt a lot but he was abole to find the misoprostol I had used for the induction and took it out. Because I had eaten a snack at 10pm they wanted me to wait a bit because they were going to put me undeer anesthesia to take me out completely. At 4am I had more pain, really bad pain but they wouldn’t give me anything since they thought I’d be going to the OR to get the d&c. The pain disipated on its own, which is weird, but I think it was because the OB took the misoprostol out. Fianlly at 6am they came to get me and at 7ish I was in the R&R room and they sent me off home.
I got here at 8:30am, went to bed and slept till 4:30pm. I’m doing better than I expected. I have absolutely no pain. I was prescribed percoset for the pain post-d&c but I haven’t needed it. I wish I would have gone thru the d&c instead of this terrible pain and experience. But the staff and the OB were great. The OB has 22 yrs experience and he also promised me he’d do his best so pathology can give me my baby back (well, send it to the Catholic funeral home for me).
Anywho, I was in so much pain, I swear if there was a next time, I’m going directly for a d&c. Never again am I going to try meds. That was the worst choice I’ve ever made. I should’ve listened to the RN at my work when she told me to avoid those pills because of how dangerous they are. I was lucky my uterus didn’t rupture. Oh, and the OB did find a septum inside my uterus so I’m going to need another surgery sometime soon.
Thank you all for your prayers and all your support!!!
