“The Glory of the Impossible” Conference

“The Glory of the Impossible: Missions, Muslims, and the Heart of God” is “A Missions Conference for Students and Other World Christians” to be held June 15-18, 2006 in Dearborn, Michigan (near Detroit).

Keynote Speaker: Don McCurry

Dr. Don McCurry spent 18 years in Pakistan as a missionary. Upon his return he founded the Zwemer Institute for Muslim Studies and several other training institutions. He is the author of the book, Healing the Broken Family of Abraham and a number of articles about Islam and reaching Muslims. He now travels and speaks extensively, and he is a stirring communicator of biblical truths in relation to missions, Muslims and the gospel.

PURPOSE:

1. To exalt the supremacy of Jesus Christ in reaching Muslims through mobilizing young people and others for mission to Muslims by:
   A. presenting the life and work of pioneer missionary Samuel Zwemer (Egypt) so as to encourage and challenge workers to emulate him and the qualities of his spiritual life;
   B. learning and valuing the approach of Zwemer in understanding the Muslim psyche without compromising the saving power of the Gospel.

GOALS:

1. To mobilize young adults and others to embrace God’s task of reaching the nations.
2. To showcase the local Arab Muslim community and the local mission community in its diversity and harmony during the annual Arab International Festival.
3. To encourage and support Detroit-area ministries to Muslims and their activities by:
   A. helping to mobilize local church commitment to evangelizing Detroit-area Muslims.
   B. stimulate the flow of resources toward this end.
