Hey ProVatican, welcome to the site!

Since you’re brand new, I thought I’d let you know that a lot of people here are hesitant to click on links that aren’t identified as to source and content. To help you get more people interested in what you wish to share, I’ll include the relevant info.

It’s a YouTube video, a little over 6 minutes in length, entitled “Bishop Kettler Confrontation 05/19/17, St Mary’s Catholic Church, Melrose, MN”. I haven’t watched it because I can’t watch video at the moment, but I will, since I note that it happened in my home state.

The beginning of the video description is “St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Melrose, MN suffered a horrible fire in March of 2016. With an overwhelming response, the parish & community came together to work on restoration efforts, only to be denied after more than a year by Bishop Kettler, of the St Cloud Diocese.”

I will pray for the Bishop, and for the parishioners. I believe that the Bishop is probably correct in his assertions. I believe he needs divine help in communicating the reasons for his decision to the upset parishioners. The parishioners need divine help in accepting the guidance of their shepherd.

I watched the first moments and then turned off when its purpose was understood…

This appears to be little more than an attack upon the Bishop.

It is hardly something any Catholic apostolate should be a party to.

Defiantly a confrontational video. Like you I quit watching after the first few minutes.

Agree, I felt the same way & turned it off.

From watching it (googled directly to YouTube-I don’t click links from new members:)), I think the Bishop has an agenda and the parish is angry. From what I could tell, the parish was designed and practiced ad orientum during Mass.

The bishop will only approve renovations if the building is reconstructed so Mass can be said versus populum (sp?). The congregation doesn’t want that.

The bishop said “I am God” when his authority was questioned, then danced a bit onto more theologically solid ground that as a bishop he is a representative of God through succession.

The bishop can do what he wants, it’s his diocese.
The way he is presenting it is less than would be hoped for from a leader.

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Thank you; these prayers are much needed in this topic.

Praying for all involved, that they may do God’s will…

INVOCATION OF ST. ERASMUS

Holy martyr Erasmus,
who didst willingly
and bravely bear the trials
and sufferings of life,
and by thy charity
didst console many fellow-sufferers;
I implore thee to remember me in my needs
and to intercede for me with God.
Staunch confessor of the Faith,
victorious vanquisher of all tortures,
pray Jesus for me
and ask Him to grant me
the grace to live and die
in the Faith through which
thou didst obtain the crown of glory.

Amen.

Dear Jesus, I offer my sincere prayers for this entire situation. Please guide your Bishop and these faithful parishioners to listen to each other and communicate to reach a better understanding and the best solution for all involved. Whatever Your will is regarding the outcome, please help all to accept it in good grace and continue down the path to a stronger relationship with you. Please heal this situation before it turns into a greater conflict.

Dear Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Joseph, please pray for everyone involved in this situation and for everyone to be reconciled to whatever the outcome might be. Amen.
