Alright guys, I want to ask you if any of you have ever taken a math class and have learned about exponential growth? Exponential growth is growth whose rate becomes ever more rapid in proportion to the growing total number or size.

Basically, pretend there is an amoeba that multiplies itself each day, including its duplicates and so forth. On the first day, the amoeba multiplies into two amoebas. On the second day, the two amoebas multiply into four amoebas. On the third day, the four amoebas multiply into eight amoebas, then 16, then 32, then 64, then 128, 256, 512, 1,024, 2,048, 4,096, and so on. By the 36th day there will be a total of over 36 billion amoebas.

The same thing applies to an idea of mine involving prayer, to which I call “exponential prayer.” In other words, if we pray for others to pray for others’ salvation and for them to pray for others’ salvation and for others to pray for others’ salvation, and so forth, we can potentially save a great amount of God’s children in rates that have never been equal. So I please ask you to pray this way so we can make a huge difference in this spiritually dead world.

God bless.

Dear Blue Cichlid,

Although mathematics were never my strong point (:o), your idea is interesting.

Praying for your intention. 🙂

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

That is a fantastic idea! I was wondering if you could share it with others, like Fr. Michael Gaitley, like on the implementation or something.

Yes and No. It is an interesting concept, but you can not make prayer into a mathematical equation. Every prayer is a variable according to the person praying with individual intent, reason or desire…or simply for the love of God. If prayer were able to be turned into a mathematical exponent… it would have been done or thought of…long ago.

Eienstine believed in God, but as far as we know, never tried or thought of turning prayer into a mathematical equation. Prayer is an individual communication with our creator. While we can pray in groups or even in mass assemblies…it will still be and remain a personal contact with God. Anything else would seem to be a form of mass hypnosis…to my mind.

While the idea is very interesting and much can be “accomplished” through group prayer, even in in world prayer…I think God has purposely put a cork in the bottle, so as us not to become God-like in our “becoming.”

If you pay attention to science or theorist who are looking for the God Particle and the String Therory…it is my opinion that they will never find it: we are not meant to find the answer to everything, let alone how to make prayer an exponent mathematical concept.

Just my own uneducated opinion. Peace.

Praying for you. Prayer is talking to God, a matter of the heart, mind & soul. Math is really not part of the action.

The content of the prayers is unaffected, it is the number of prayers that is by the expotential growth curve! Praying along with everyone else.

It is not turning prayer into a mathematical equation and it has NOTHING to do with string theory or the God particle or becoming God-like in any way. The whole idea is simply to pray for others to be saved from eternal damnation and for those same people to do the same by praying for others to be saved and so forth. Think of it as a sort of chain reaction.

It is essentially praying for the salvation of souls, but also praying for other people to pray like this and so forth.

BlueChild, your reference to math and expotential growth does turn it into an a equation. If the concept pleases you and others, then I am pleased for you. It indicates that you are thinking about and probably praying as well. Perhaps you are right, but you should explore this with a theologian. Peace

Will do. Thanks 🙂

PRAYER FOR
ALL HUMANITY.

Bless us all, 0 Lord, we pray,
for loved ones, here and near, and far away.
And everyone for whom we pray.
Keep us safe each night and day,
the homeless who have no place to stay.
Those who are suffering in any way.
The dying, those mourning or grieving
and all who need God’s mercy.
Keep us safe, Heavenly Father,
when we are at home,
or travelling on our way,
or when we are vulnerable,
or in danger in any way.
Most merciful Father,
hear us as we pray for the souls in Purgatory,
or who may be sent there some day.
Amen.
