I need prayers to help me overcome my addiction of cigarettes. I have tried all the NRT with no success. I know that I need will power and to offer this up to Christ, but I am weak.

Please take a brief moment to pray for me during this time.

Lord, Mama Mary, please help Gilchrist in his struggle to stop smoking. Give him the strength and the will to stop smoking.

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession, was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To you do I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy, hear and answer me. Amen

Lord, please help Gilchrist to substitute his love for smoking with something else. Whenever he wants to pick up a cigarette may he pick up the Bible instead and keep on reading until his urge to smoke passes. May he develop a deep love for Your Word and take up the practice of reading at least 30 minutes every day. Gilchrist can not quit without your powerful assistance; help him to be open to receiving all the graces you send his way. May he receive the sacraments frequently and do spiritual reading every day. May he take at least 30 minutes to be alone with you in prayer, as he really needs this to begin to detach himself from cigarettes and from the things of the world that separate him from a pure love of You. Help Gilchrist, Lord, and give him the strength to say No! to temptation. Thank you, Lord, for hearing my prayer. Amen.
