Ok, no one has replied to my last post, and i am in a dilema… if a woman is raped can she be classed as sexually immoral… please please reply…

In my opinion, if a woman is raped, she is not immoral.

Why on earth would a victim of rape–a crime of violence–be considered sexually immoral?

Absolutely not!! She was attacked. She wouldn’t be judged as immoral. The poor woman. She would be a victim and should be taken care of and loved and protected.

Being forcibly raped doesn’t make her immoral. She wouldn’t be considered “sexually immoral” unless she has otherwise been living a sexually immoral life. On the other hand, someone living an immoral life who gets raped does not thereby get re-classified as “sexually moral.”

She would NOT be considered sexually immoral. She was the victim of a crime and should be given compassion and support. If this woman is concerned, she should get some spiritual direction and some counseling.

There must be knowledge of the sinfulness of the act and a intentional choice made of the free will in a grave matter. Being raped would not make a woman sexually immoral.

The victim of a crime is NOT guilty of anything. The criminal is guilty. Also, it is important to remember what others have pointed out here, but I want to emphasize: Rape is a crime of violence. If someone is robbed at gunpoint, is she a thief? Is a murder victim a killer? Of course not!!
We need to look at rape in the same way as* other* violent crimes. When we do, we can see that the rape victim is just that: a victim!!

as it turns out, st. augustine answered this very question in City of God. he said the same thing as everyone on this thread. his answer was in the case of a raped nun. this was in the fourth century.

Since a rape victim is not making a consensual moral choice in this matter and is instead a victim of violence (I taught women’s self defense classes for several years…). She cannot be cuplable of sexual immorality.
