What did I do?

You scare me.

I’m always getting a note a praise from this woman or I’m being chided for something. She’s more like my mother than she knows.

By any chance, are you Jewish?

Fraternally,

Br. JR, OSF 🙂
LOL!

Gotta keep it fresh and interesting.

Besides, you need an internet momma to scold you, otherwise you’d drown in a sea of praise. 😃

Well, thank you Megan. Can I put you down as one of my references on my resume? 😃

Have a blessed Triduum!

Br. JR, OSF 🙂
Well, of course Dear Brother JR!:D;)😛

You really are a BLESSING to all of us!
I truly admire your patience, wisdom, kindness!

CAF would not be the same without you!
I really mean it!

I might not comment in a lot of threads, but I have been a fan of yours
for a long time! :gopray:

Have a Blessed Triduum as well Dear Brother JR!

Pax,

Look at some of the other names on the list, and many of them are sure to be “above” Cardinal Dolan. I think it would certainly be a positive thing if people recognized that the Church was still influential today. Regardless, it will certainly garner attention and discussion that would be positive for the Church.
👍

Thanks for your post!👍 I agree!
We need for people to see that the Church is still relevant!

Also, Cardinal Dolan has an uphill battle with the POTUS regarding the HHS mandate,
he needs the clout! I am so worried about the HHS mandate:( it will even affect
places like EWTN. I personally have not watched EWTN in years (no TV) but I know of people converting because of it. So, voting for the Cardinal will help this cause!

Here is the link in case someone needs it. Please vote DEFINITELY YES!😃

The HHS mandate has the potential to shut down the following Catholic services:
    • TV and radio
    • schools and colleges own by the Church (not all Catholic schools are owned by the Church)
    • Catholic hospitals owned by the Church
    • chanceries
    • parish offices
    • pregnancy centers
    • shelters
    • soup kitchens
    • all of Catholic Charities (nationwide)
    • Catholic Social Services
    • Catholic Legal Services
    • Catholic Mental Health Services
    • Catholic seminaries and houses of formation for religious
    • Retirement homes for clergy and religious
    • Catholic nursing homes
    • Catholic hospice
    Should I continue the list?

    Here is what will happen.
    • a. The Catholic Church will be fined until it can no longer afford the fines
    • b. Catholic institutions will stop offering medical insurance and lay staff will leave
    • c. Religious orders that have medical insurance for their elderly and sick religious will have to drop them, because the larger orders are self-insured. The laity will be asked to pay for those bills, which the laity cannot afford right now.
    • d. Older and sick priests and religious on Medicare will have to drop it, because Medicare is now managed by HMOs
    • e. Many Catholic organizations, run by laymen, will succumb to the pressure. Which is understandable, because these men and women have families to care for. It’s not the right thing to do, but understandable.
    • f. If the laymen who work for Catholic organizations find themselves unemployed, we’re talking in the hundreds of thousands of men, women and children who will be affected. It will cost the government a lot of money in unemployment insurance and state funded medicaid to cover these unemployed people and their children.
    • g. Many taxes will go up to subsidize the state medicaid system
That’s only organizations run by the Church and religious orders. There are Catholic business people who are feeling trapped. These are men and women who own their businesses and are faithful to Catholic teaching. They don’t want to comply with HHS. There are also Muslim organizations, Orthodox organizations, Orthodox Jews and Evangelical Christians who are feeling trapped.

These groups to not have a central figure like Dolan. In reality, the Cardinal is fighting for them as well; because, they are voiceless. Business men and women of faith (any faith) are not well represented by business organizations. These organizations focus on the money, not on values.

Have a blessed Triduum, a holy Passover for those who observe it, and a glorious Easter.

    Br. JR, OSF 🙂

Must be Republicans that are counting the votes; they only let you vote once. 😃

Cardinal Dolan is leading the President by 15,000 votes. The President has 52% for and 48% against. The Cardinal has 66% for and 33% against.

The Cardinal has a 2:1 ratio, which is actually better than that of the President who has a 1:1 ratio. That certainly speaks volumes.

  1. Dear Brother JR,

Thanks for your post! Reading the list, brought me to tears!:bighanky:
Everyone out there should be voting for Cardinal Dolan! The Church needs to be relevant
in the eyes of the “corrupt”. The HHS mandate is pure EVIL!!!😦

I wish you would have kept going, maybe people will wake up to what is at stake here!
I wonder if the HHS mandate will also affect this website, CAF? :o

We have to pray lots of Novenas for a miracle to take place!

The Chaplet of Divine Mercy starts on Good Friday April 6th, all the way until Divine Mercy
    Sunday on April 15th.

By the way, Cardinal Dolan is still ahead of the POTUS, but Vladimir Putin is now ahead of him. And someone else now has the lead.

Cardinal Dolan has gained more votes, he is at 38,721, with a 66.44% plus ratio, but he has gone from slot #14 to #16. At least he is ahead of the POTUS, MO & H Clinton.🙂

If you have not voted, please VOTE NOW!!! The link that has the TIME link is the fastest way to go.

Thanks to all for your posts & votes!👍

Dear Brother JR,

Thanks for your post! Reading the list, brought me to tears!:bighanky:
This is very sobering. I was thinking that the diocese where I live serves one million Catholics + I don’t know how many non-Catholic poor. Not only are we talking about clergy, religious and diocesan employees going without insurance or even unemployed, but we’re also talking about many people going without services that the Catholic Church offers and that the State cannot afford to offer, unless it raises taxes.

The average American does not realize how much money the religious institutions save the taxpayer. We have a hospital here that is run by Orthodox Jews. Orthodox Jews do not subscribe to the HHS mandate. That hospital has 1300 beds and I don’t know how many employees. We have a Catholic hospital that has 800 beds. That’s just one medium size city. Imagine huge cities like NY, LA, Chicago, Dallas, Boston, the millions of dollars that go into those cities that do not come from government funding is astronomical.

While it is true that many organizations receive government funding, none are not totally subsidized by the government as are state organizations. A lot of money comes from donations, campaigns, parishes, diocesan drives, religious orders, even school children who do fundraising for the poor.

Cardinal Dolan and the bishops are fighting to keep the Church free to serve these people, which the state cannot afford to serve without the help of the Church. Even if the state pays 60% of the bill, the other 40% comes through the Church. If Church run organizations close, the state has to come up with the other 40%. Think about it. What’s 40% of $1 billion. That’s a lot of taxes. The taxpayers are never going to agree to such a tax hike. The economy is in horrible shape.

People who think that Cardinal Dolan is not an influential American should think again. He’s fighting for justice for many people.

Fraternally,

Br. JR, OSF 🙂

Dear Brother JR,

Thanks for this amazing post!👍
Again, I really do not think people realize just how much is at stake here! Truly sad!😦
I think this is a persecution in a very blunt way!

I want to discuss your post further, but I just found out that people have been able to VOTE again in the TIME poll, which would explain some of the numbers…:hmmm:

I am curious to see if any of you are able to vote again, just in case…😉
I was told that we had until midnight California time, someone else said we have until Saturday.

Anyway, we definitely need the clout, to be able to fight this EVIL HHS mandate, that will end up destroying so much!!

Thanks again for your kind & informative post!

God Bless you for ministering to us!

Blessings to all on this Resurrection/Easter weekend!

Pax,
