To receive a plenary indulgence, one must " be completely removed from attachment to any form of sin." What does this mean?

I always thought this meant you could have zero sins on your conscience at all, not even a little venial one. But a priest recently explained it during his homilee that it just means you can’t be attached to any sins, meaning even if you have some venial sins on your conscience, you must be truly sorry for them and have a true desire to sin no more.
