If I do a plenary indulgence for someone who has died, does that mean that they will automatically go to heaven if they are in pergatory? In that case, is there no longer any need to pray for that person or offer a mass for them?

Thank you.

If you get a plenary, they will go to Heaven. On the other hand, the one requirement of being free from attachment to ALL sin (mortal and venial) is very, very hard. It’s tough to know whether you are or not. Therefore, I would keep offering up prayers and indulgences.
