Our priest related this story to us one Sunday, during the homily:
When he was in seminary, he had a hummingbird feeder hung outside of his window, where he could watch the hummers feed.
Every day, the small birds would come and suck up the nectar water in the holder. And, every day, this very large hummingbird, much larger than all the rest, would come and bully the smaller birds away from the feeder, and proceed to hog all the nectar water for itself.
Then, one day, this large hummer was flying at and attacking the smaller birds, when, all of a sudden, Father saw a pair of talons swoop down and snatch that large bully, and carry it off.
There was an obvious moral to that story. Bullies of the world had better look out!
Then again, it was probably just a hungry raptor grabbing prey to feed its young.
Still, not a bad parable.
