Pokemon Go is more appealing than sex

A new survey from research software company Qualtrics found that for some, the addicting game, which has taken the US by storm over the past week, is more appealing than sex. The survey of more than 750 Pokemon Go players in the US revealed that one in five would rather roam around catching the little virtual creatures than get busy in the bedroom. Women are 44 percent more likely than men to be in that group.

Meanwhile, the study also revealed some other amusing findings about the lives and minds of Pokemon Go players, including the fact that many are playing in secret to avoid being judged. Eighteen percent said they would be too embarrassed to tell their friends that they play, while 22 percent keep it from family members, and 38 percent stay mum about the game around their boss. But despite being too embarrassed to come clean about their Pokemon Go habit, the survey revealed one alarming finding: many players are risking their lives — and the lives of others — for the game. According to Qualtrics, data suggests that as many as 85 percent of trainers have played while driving.

My shock was the fact that people drive while playing the game and some had accidents.
 
I am reminded of the Star Trek TNG episode about a virtual video game that was more appealing than sex – or at least, the people playing it behaved suspiciously as if they were having sex. Anyway,everyone on the Enterprise got addicted to it except for Data (obviously) and Wesley (cementing his Gary Stu status). The whole game turned out to be engineered by some evil aliens who hoped to use it to subjugate everyone and take over the galaxies. 😛
 
I LOVE Pokémon, and I’d rather play the traditional handhelds than Go. So maybe? I don’t know.
 
I don’t quite see why Pokémon Go is so addictive. I’ve played it a bit (albeit, not much) and am at a loss as to why people would risk their lives for the sake of playing it. I mean, driving while playing the game is idiotic. But then, I suppose there are a lot of idiots out there. 🙂
 
The addiction is real. I’ve never seen so many people in our public parks downtown, all hanging out catching pokemon.

Growing up, I wasn’t allowed to play with the cards or games, because my mother thought they were demonic or some such (my fellow homeschoolers all have similar tales of woe in this regard.) Cut to this week, and she called me and asked if I would go downtown with her to walk around the pokestops. (She did not appreciate me pointing out the irony of this.)

I love how it’s bringing people together, I just hope people stop doing it while driving.
 
If they feel that this game is better than sex,
then clearly they aren’t doing sex right. lol

God forbid a video game reduces fornication and encourages people to get exercise. I however see the part about people using it while driving concerning.
 
Some of the parishes in our Archdiocese have been found to be GO locations.
We’ve been asked to offer bottled water, a church bulletin…
Whatever.

I suggest giving them a holy card of Jesus, Mary & Joseph. Who knows, perhaps they will keep it and read the back.🙂
 
If it’s sex in marriage, that’s bad.

If it’s reducing pre- marital sex…it’s a good thing! 👍

If it’s referring to sex in marriage for a couple who is currently needing to abstain for serious reasons, it may very well be a blessing.
 
Hmm…interesting perspectives. I wonder if the game is also reducing watching porn. I guess no one would survey that.
 
Actually I read on twitter that Pokemon Go was more popular than porn on the internet. Porn is usually number 1 for searches but Pokemon surpassed it. I don’t know how accurate that post was but if it’s true it’s a good thing! 👍👍

It’s a new thing.

Like how you discovered a new dish and you ignore all of the other food, you think that new dish is the best of all…

Eventually you know that’s not true, the hype dies down.

Same with this game. It won’t remain exciting for long unless they update it. It’s the same with Candy crush, how everyone was so obsessed with it. Or Angry Birds

After a while we will have all of those people back to watching porn :confused:

When this Pokémon craze subsides…Porn will be #1 again.

Pokémon Go is not a sin, but Porn is a sin …Catholics and any God-fearing people should not even think about watching porn! :eek:
